MYP update of the week
This week, students and staff have been focused on being communicators. Teachers and staff have been communicating school and classroom expectations. Students have been communicating so that teachers can get to know their interests and learning styles and students can learn new things about their classmates.
This week at Ramsey
Mr. Fell is conducting a tool drive to equip the new Fab Lab / Maker Space for Ramsey. We are looking for new and used hand and power tools, so clean out your basements and garages of anything workable that's gathering dust or donate a new item! Screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, wrenches and clamps (there never seems to be enough clamps) drills and saws; we'll take it all. Just drop your items off in the office or Mr. Fell's room (3110) and it will be eagerly used and greatly appreciated.
Ms. Ludwig's math classes learned how to play Yahtzee on Friday! Many board, card and dice games build number sense, strategy and decision making skills. Find time to play Yahtzee or other games at home!
The French immersion had a great start!!! Six graders are comfortable with the transition to Ramsey, thanks mainly to the help of our 8th grader immersion and WEB. Seven graders are working on learning profile posters to support our French community.
Mr. Bailey's 7th grade ELA students got to know each other by playing the Magic Beach Ball Letter Game and a few rounds of Human Etch a Sketch. 8th Grade ELA students faced the Marshmallow Challenge together Both 7th and 8th grade ELA classes should start brining in notebooks next week.
National Junior Honor Society is hosting a Family Volunteer Night on November 29th. More information will be coming out later in the fall. If you would like to receive email updates about the Family Volunteer Night please fill out the following form https://goo.gl/KwQB9T
Right now we are asking for donations of denim jeans and clothing to support the Sole Hope project occurring that night. Drop them off in the office or send them to school with your student. Contact Ms. Ludwig or Mr. Haugen for more information or if you would like to assist with planning the event.
Please bring in the BoxTops for education. We have a bin in the office to collect them!
We have lots of opportunities to volunteer in the classrooms - please contact Christine Danielson at firstname.lastname@example.org

GiveMN is a local nonprofit that hosts fund-raisers for philanthropic giving on behalf of organizations and individuals across the state. Ramsey Middle School has a GiveMN account and is easily accessed on our website: ramsey.spps.org - look for the "donate" button in the upper right hand corner of our website. While our PTO does a variety of fundraising for Ramsey student activities, this is an easy place to give to the school programming and student activities. Please check it out and let us know if you have any questions!
We at Ramsey have partnered with Buffalo Wild Wings on Snelling for the athletic department! The first Wednesday of every month will be Ramsey night and a part of the proceeds from each bill will be donated to Ramsey's athletic department. You do have to mention that you are there for Ramsey Middle School family night. All purchases (including adult beverages) go works towards the Ramsey donations!
