Sydney Iconic Landmarks

A walking tour from The Rocks to The Opera House

Our Term 1 excursion

Wednesday 2nd April 2014

3C was very excited to get into the city on such a beautiful, sunny, Autumn day.

We saw so many impressive and interesting historic landmarks around Circular Quay.

We started from the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) and Cadman's cottage and travelled around to The Botanic Gardens and The Opera House.

Marilyn was our leader

We were lucky to have such a well-informed leader who knew so many interesting facts about the history of Sydney.

I wonder what was your favourite fact?

Five classes from Dural PS went on the excursion; 2/3M, 3/4O, 4D, 4/5WF and 3C

We had plenty of energy at the start of our walk.

Some of the sites we saw

  • Cadman's Cottage
  • Circular Quay
  • The Tank Stream ( The Eora people had made holes in the side of the stream)
  • Herald Square
  • Customs House
  • The Union Jack flagpole
  • The nurses quarter
  • The anchor of the Sirius
  • The Land's department
  • The foundation of Captain Arthur Phillip's house
  • The poles acknowledging Aboriginal history of Sydney
  • The Sydney Harbour Bridge
  • The Opera House
  • The Botanic Gardens

What others can you remember?

We were quite tired by the time it was lunch. What a fabulous place to eat!
