Patriot's Pen
Week 13: November 26-30
There is so much to be thankful for!
A Message from Mireles
Teachers & Staff,
Please take time to rejuvenate and renew during this coming week. It has been a fun and eventful first 12 weeks of school!
What an evening we had yesterday at our 1st annual "Patriot Course Information Night" (formerly Elective Night) now to include content course previews! The turn out the performances, the activities, the ART and all the fun completely exceeded my expectations! Special Thanks to Art, Band, Choir, Orchestra, Theatre, FCS, Industrial Tech, AVID, 6th Grade Social Studies, Math, ELA, Science, Mrs. Severson, Mr. Milmo and Mrs. Christensen for overseeing it all.
Each and every one of you makes a substantial contribution to the education and well being of our students. This impact will help to sustain them through some of the most memorable & for some, difficult time in their lives.
They need you more than you will ever know and they are Thankful for you even if they can't articulate it. So I am saying this for them, Thank you for all the early mornings, late evenings and missed events because you have given that time to your students. Thank you for all the energy, enthusiasm and planning you put into your lessons. Thank you for knowing your students beyond the classroom, their feelings, their fears, and their successes.
Thankful for you.

Shout out to Veterans Day Committee for a job well done!
From Maria Rosen:
Cynthia worked extremely hard to make sure our Veterans had a super special day. We are so fortunate to have her in our campus. Thank you Cynthia for all you did to make our day special, and thank you for serving our country! You are appreciated!
From Lisa Owens:
Shout out to Mari Cyr and Michael Cortes for preparing the Band for the Veteran's Day assembly. The music was beautiful, and such a great part of the event! Even though they had the music for about a week, it sounded like the kids had been preparing it for much longer. Way to go RMS Band!
From Maria Hughes:
I shout out to Brad McCormick for the creative and diverse artwork his art 1 students made for the Veterans Day presentation.
A shout out to Angela Lewis and Jodie Wilford's ALE students for the great job they did decorating the stage for the Veterans Day Assembles.
From Angela Lewis:
Shout out to Ruby and the Cafeteria team who Go above and beyond to partner with ALE and Expresso Yourself Cafe! We are truly grateful for them and all they do to make our Cafe operate.
From Chip Chipoli:
Shout out to Pam Gonzales for watching my classes so I could participate in all three Veterans Day assemblies.
Shout out to Mrs. Mireles and the Veterans Day Committee and the band for wonderful assemblies.
Shout out to the best singer in the district, Lisa Owens.
From Julie Montamat:
Shout out to the Veteran's Day Committee for a FABULOUS job with our assemblies! What a respectful honoring of so many who've sacrificed so much.
Shout out to Mr. Reyes for being vigilant in the hallways (and bathroom) so that he stopped something from escalating. Turned into a teach-piece for several students, whose parents were amazingly supportive of our efforts.
From “Anonymous”:
Shout out to Nancy Kilborn! Thank you for keeping track of all of our SCE students and giving us updates as they progress! I love having an idea of which students struggled during your pre-teach and common problems you encountered so I can be better prepared to teach concepts! You are AWESOME! :)
From Audrey Abell:
I would like to recognize Chip for being the voice of the GPS during the Fall Orchestra Concert. She did an amazing job!
From Rod Manabat:
To Lisa Owens--for her voice of a Nightingale singing the Star-Spangled Banner
To Mariselda Cyr--for the spectacular band performance. The military fanfare made me want to start marching again.
To Chip Chipoli---for dressing up in her Air Force blues, introducing the speakers and helping the assembly transition smoothly.
And thank you to ALL the teachers for attending the assembly and for the positive, respectful behaviors of each grade level students.
From Corey Clendenin:
I have a shout out to Cynthia Trejo and her assistance with my student in ISS to get his project done and turned in. He is passing this six weeks!!!
From Kimberly Villarreal:

Thanks to so many of you who have had conferences with admin and/or a counselor, and with students and sometimes parents. It's what's required when developing, maintaining and restoring relationships with such a diverse group of students. It takes a lot of intentional work to build trust and to learn how best to overcome any obstacle to our students’ success. Again, thank you for your commitment and passion.
Our next PBIS meeting will be held 12/3/2018 @ 4:15 location TBD.
We will:
- Review and revise campus-wide structures/routines to include duty assignments and common expectations for AM, passing periods, lunch, & bus departure.
- Review current and create an additional campus-wide incentive program. This next focus is on recognizing and celebrating the good choices MOST of our students make MOST of the time!
If you would like to join us and provide input at the meeting, use this QR code to sign up. I will share an agenda with you if you intend to attend.
