Definitions and interesting facts
They are organic nutrients of humans and animals that are present in every plant or animal cell. They make up the largest portion of organic compounds present on earth. They are a group of chemical compounds that contain carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. We need them a our primary energy source, they are in cellulose, and they store energy too.
Types
Monosaccharides: Glucose, fructose, galactose
Disaccharides: sucrose, maltose, lactose
Polysaccharides: made up of ten or more monosaccharides
Functions/uses
