Civil Rights Leader
Martin Luther King Jr.
His Contribution to Civil Rights:
Martin Luther King was one of the most influential people in the '50s and '60s. One of the reasons why is because of his part as a civil rights activist. He had a goal for equality to be present between all races and eliminate racial segregation. He had a certain charisma about him and determination that made him likeable to most people. He did all this at his own risk because at the time, civil rights protesting was looked down upon by authorities at the time. He had a world wide following that kept growing. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 and was named Man of the Year in 1963 by Time magazine.
