CAASPP Testing
May 2 - May 20, 2022
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD'S DEVICE IS FULLY CHARGED EACH DAY OF TESTING!
PES Families of Students in Grades 3 - 5
As you may know, all students in grades 3 - 5 will be taking the state accountability assessment, CAASPP this year.
At PES, our testing window begins on MONDAY, MAY 2nd, and continues through FRIDAY, MAY 20th.
Each classroom will test for a portion of the school day during this window according to the schedule they have submitted. Each classroom follows its own testing schedule. If you are not sure which days and/or times your student is taking the CAASPP test, please check with your child’s teacher.
Please know that parent volunteers are not permitted during a class's testing session. Additionally, we will not interrupt a testing session to deliver a message, pull a student out of class for an appointment, or early pick-up. Also, should a student arrive at school after a classroom testing session has begun, they will need to wait in the office until their classroom is finished testing before joining the class.
Tips for Success on the CAASPP
Be at school and arrive on time.
Students do best when they test with their own class. If a student is testing, we will not
interrupt the testing room to bring the student to the office. Once that classroom’s
testing time is over for the day the student would then be released for pick-up. Students
that arrive at school after their class has started testing for the day will be held in the
office until testing is finished for their class. As a reminder, students should be in their
classroom seats at 8:55 a.m. We appreciate your support in protecting this time for all of
the students.
- Get a good night’s sleep.
Eat a good breakfast.
Consider providing students with a healthy breakfast and cutting down on high-sugar
cereals, pastries, etc., especially on a testing day. It enhances concentration.
- Get them moving.
Testing can be taxing. The concentration and effort that students put into doing their
best can be tiring. Physical activity that gets students moving can help them not only
perform better in school but can also help them to sleep better.
Encourage your Child
It is not unusual for students to feel nervous about taking a test.
Let them know that you believe in them and that you know that when they take their time, think carefully, and check their work they will do their best. Encourage them to show what they know.
