A message from the Principal!

Greetings JES Community!

We are so excited to see everyone tomorrow! I do hope everyone is recovering from our week of ice days and that you found some time to spend with your family to rest and rejuvenate.

As we get back to our routines this week, please make a note of some rescheduled events. The most important are our Interim Assessments for our 3rd - 5th graders. Our Reading Assessment scheduled for Tuesday will occur as planned. The 5th grade Science Assessment was rescheduled to this Friday. Please encourage your child to do their very best on these assessments as they give us very valuable information about your child's progress this year.

If your family is still in need as a result of the storms or we can help support in any way, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

We are looking forward to a fantastic week!

Interim Assessments are online assessments that align to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and help educators, students and their families monitor student progress and predict student performance on STAAR.

These assessments are important in giving us vital information about our student's progress in mastering grade level skills and knowledge and preparing them for the next grade level.

Please help us by encouraging your child to get a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast and do their best!

SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD Meeting this week!

We’re sending a friendly reminder about the special school board meeting this Wednesday night, Feb. 8th. Among the topics being discussed are the proposed school bond election and the new attendance zones.

Your voice matters. We want to get as much public input as possible.

The meeting starts at 6 pm at 508 N. 5th Street in Jarrell.

IMPORTANT Daily Deadlines!

In order for our systems to run smoothly and safely, please observe the following daily deadlines times.

7:30 a.m. The back doors automatically lock, and you will need to drive around and walk your child in to the building. PLEASE DO NOT DROP-OFF STUDENTS AFTER 7:30. They must be signed in by a parent or guardian.

1:30 p.m. ALL transportation changes must be made by 1:30 by emailing or calling Stephanie Garcia at (512)-746-2170 or

2:30 p.m. Any student checking out early for an appointment, must be picked up prior to 2:30. Our dismissal processes are already in place by that time making it very difficult to change.

At Jarrell Elementary, we are constantly assessing our systems to make improvements for safety, convenience, and time. Observing these cut-off times helps us ensure the smoothest possible processes! Thank you!

This week in Pre-k, in Language Arts, students will be learning about how to write a sentence with correct punctuation, reviewing letters Aa, Bb and Cc, and how rhyming words have the same rimes. In Math, the students will be able to understand that 1-9 is repeating patterns to 30. Lastly, in Science, we will be learning about gravity and how living things move and nonliving things do not move.

In reading, we will be starting our unit over colonial towns and townspeople: Once Upon America. We will be combining science and social studies talking about world maps, globes, and also about our plants and different soils around the world while making plant observations, and studying the Mojave desert. In math, we will be continuing our decomposing or subtracting numbers. Please remember to practice ABCs, and reading with your kiddos every night! Please also don't forget to check our lost and found for your kiddos jackets!
