Oak Ridge Family Focus
January 26th Edition
Thank You
Thank you to all of our families who filled out the 5Essentials Survey. With your help, we have met the state-required response rate! We truly appreciate all your support and feedback as we grow together as a school community. If you haven't completed the survey, we would still love your feedback. You can fill out the brief survey by:
- Visiting https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/
- Typing and selecting “Cook” as the "County."
- Typing Oak Ridge into the "School" field and selecting the school.
Visitor Parking
Please remember to use one of the labeled visitor parking spots in the front of school. Please do not park along the curb by the main entrance. Palos Hills Police Department has written tickets for cars that have parked along the curb.
A Note from the Nurse's Office
We are in the middle of flu season. In order to keep all students healthy and safe, here are some helpful tips. Please keep your child home if he or she:
- needs medicine for a fever in the morning
- has vomiting or diarrhea because of the flu
- has a fever today (they should also stay home the next day)
Thank you for your help in keeping all of our students and staff safe. If you have any questions, please contact the nurse's office at 708-233-5304.
Lost and Found
Is your child missing any clothing, water bottles, or other items? Please have your child check the lost and found by February 18th. Any unwanted items will be donated after that date. We will remind students at school as well.
Upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences
Please see our letter regarding parent-teacher conferences on February 13th.
Have a wonderful week, and go Mustangs!

Focus for January: Mental Wellness Month
Week 4: Mental Health Self Care Tips
Last Week's Daily Tips For Mental Wellness
Jan. 21: Spend 15 minutes outside without electronics. Being outside in nature without electronics gives you a renewed sense of perspective and helps you to reclaim your sense of self. The fresh air is healthy for your lungs and your brain.
Jan. 22: Do one chore for your parents without being asked. Children that do chores feel part of a stronger family due to shared responsibility. Doing chores really help kids benefit from the feeling that others depend on them.
Jan. 23: Make sure to sit up straight in class. Research also shows that sitting or standing up straighter can help you feel happier and more confident. One study even found that people who stood up straighter felt less depressed and had more energy.
Jan. 24: Limit yourself to ten minutes of electronics/social media today. Decreased time on social media leads to an increase in time and productivity, better ability to focus, and improved self esteem.
