GoMath: Remember to turn on adaptive learning products in order to push out digital assignments to students. Teachers who use the digital pieces with their students notice students benefit when taking other on-line assessments. If you need support, please let me know. Click the blue for the “how to” on adding adaptive learning products.
Next Steps: I will be working with you on administering testing. Many of you have already set up a time to watch me test a student. Please let me know what level of support you need. Reminder-do not use summer school reading data, it could be incorrect.
Shout Outs for Staff
Way to go veteran staff with setting a great example for our new staff! Your support for them with students, planning, and being a great model for how we support one another in ALL things has been excellent!
Thank you to everyone for the flexibility with ALL things we keep throwing at you! You are handling things like PROs and we appreciate it! Dismissal changes, PBSI practice, Fresh Fruit/Vegetable Program, etc. Hopefully next week will not require as much change!

Interventions
I wanted to add a reminder and link about the intervention padlet we discussed last fall. This is a great place to list interventions you have found successful in the past for academics or behaviors. Sue discussed our SST process and having tried an intervention and having collected data BEFORE requesting an SST. This padlet will be a great place for us to gather thoughts to try. Please make sure you put your name on the post it you add so someone can come ask questions/suggestions if they'd like to try it. Click here for the link.
Kagan/Engagement
I like to share ideas for engagement structures or Kagan structures from time to time. This week I wanted to share an adaption to fan 'n' pick. In fan 'n' pick, you have a card that goes in the center of the table with directions for students. Sometimes students get confused about how to turn the card. It seems pretty easy, but they really do struggle with this at times.
I recently saw a teacher adapt this to make it easier. She simply had students stand up and after each turn they shifted one spot clockwise. The one caveat to this approach is that you will need to set your expectations for standing, pushing in chairs, and the movement. However, it does add a movement piece that our students often need.
Shout Outs
Thank you to everyone for an amazing first week!
Thank you to those that volunteered to ride busses this week.
Thank you to Kaylie and Jamie for handling all the crazy office chaos of the start of school.
Thank you to everyone for your flexibility as we changed the dismissal schedule.
Important to Remember
*When arriving and parking in the morning, please make sure you are following ALL traffic flow signage, just as we expect parents. If you need to park in the lower lot, you MUST enter off Carol Street. It will NEVER be okay to pull in through the drop-off exit. Thank you for putting student safety first!
*Teachers can begin working on Professional Growth Plans. Jane Travlos states that they will be updated for the 2019-20 school year by end of day Friday. You have until September 13th to complete your version of your plan and submit it.
