Dear Everitt Families:
Yesterday, some of our students participated in a student walk-out for school safety. All of our students, whether they chose to participate or not, were respectful of each other's choices and views. Students who participated followed the guidelines set out by the student leaders and quickly returned to their learning after the 13-minute walkout. There was much to be proud of about the way Everitt students conducted themselves. Jeffco R-1 security and the Wheat Ridge police, who were present to keep students safe were impressed with our students' maturity.
We also have had some wonderful field trips and events this week. Our service learning class went to Morningstar to interview some of the residents about their life stories. They will compile the information and bring it back to present to the residents. Our students loved learning from the residents at Morningstar! Our outdoor leadership students had a wonderful time rock climbing this week as well! This evening is the Everitt musical. Our musical theatre students have been working hard all semester to prepare for tonight! Seussical the Musical begins at 6:30 pm at WRHS. Admission is free if you'd like to join us.
We have some other fun events coming up soon. It is our 7th graders' turn for their school dance which will take place on Thursday, April 27th. See below for more information. There will be no school for students on Friday, April 28th as staff will be doing professional learning.
We will be delivering 6th grade schedules, signs, and information about next year on Friday, April 28th. We are looking forward to meeting our new families!
Below is a link to sign up for Camp Everitt. Camp Everitt is free of charge and is a summer day camp that we offer each summer in partnership with community organizations and businesses. It has become a treasured part of our summer and is a wonderful opportunity for our new students to make some friends and connect with staff before coming to Everitt and for our current students to catch up with friends. We are moving the dates for Camp Everitt this year in hopes of making it more accessible for students and families. Camp will run from July 31-August 4 and will be held in parks around Wheat Ridge. This year, we will have three strands. In addition to our usual STEM focus, we will also include humanities and arts. Camp is open to all current 5th - 8th graders. This year's theme is "Making Waves." Hope to see you all at Camp Everitt!
Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

PTA (PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION) CORNER:
Our focus is on building lasting connections between families, getting to know our student’s teachers, and creating opportunities to come together as a community, valuing our diversity and celebrating our differences.
The final PTA meeting of the school year will be MONDAY, May 1st - please mark your calendars accordingly.
WE NEED YOUR EXPERTISE & CONNECTIONS: Everitt is hosting a Wellness Day in on May 12th focusing on Wellbeing (including Physical, Emotional, Financial, and Social/Community). The school is looking to bring in presenters and activities throughout the day. Are you an expert or specialist in one of these areas or do you know anyone who might be interested in participating? Examples are dance, yoga, martial arts, cooking, nutrition, budgeting, volunteer activities, etc.! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will be in touch with more details!
Say CHEESE - Photo booth donations needed:
Thank you to the 6th grade parents who so generously donated money for a photo booth at the 6th grade dance! It was such a huge hit that PTA is raising funds for photo booths for the 7th grade and 8th grade dances. The cost of each photo booth is approximately $350. If you would like to donate to the cause, please Venmo @Everitt-Middle with a note that says "photo booth donation." Thank you so much for considering!
