KRMS Principal Update

Parent Update

Starting next Monday, April 5, 2021 our hybrid model will no longer be our design, as we will have all of our children attending in-person at school five days a week. Of course our exception is for our students and families that have continued to choose to be enrolled in our Virtual Galaxy Team. Although there might be only a slight shifting of some times with our Galaxy team, our students participating in-person will keep to the structure we have had since September, but of course we'll have more children working within the classroom.

Parents, can you please help assist us with the following:

A reminder for families that have participated virtually this year that are returning to full in-person:

  • Please complete the daily screening electronically before your child leaves for school. If you would like for them to be able to do this themselves, please let us know, but we are requesting that this is done daily. It is best to discover a temperature or symptoms before a child is in school to limit the exposure of all of our students to what could be the virus. This is completed through our PowerSchool Parent Login.
  • If your child is a close contact with someone that was positive for Covid, they will need to quarantine for 10-days and I request you reach out to our school nurse.
  • While on campus, students are required to wear a mask. With the exception of lunch time, masks are to be worn everywhere else.

I had made mention of an Extended School Year Program in my last newsletter. This is NOT a requirement, but more of an offer to families that are looking for academic support during the summer and given the uniqueness of the last year plus due to Covid-19. This is a 4 day a week for 5 weeks program offered to all students. More information to come, but a lot of that is dependent on our enrollment numbers for this opportunity.

This is planned for July 6th - August 5th, Mondays - Thursdays from 9am - 2pm. Transportation and lunch will be provided. We will focus on a literacy and mathematics; however, we are also planning to incorporate a daily "hands-on" opportunity, which may include support and instruction through our Technology Education Center staff and students. We are planning for both traditional and non-traditional learning opportunities.

To pre-register your child for this so we can know who might be attending, PLEASE complete the following survey: https://forms.gle/SRPG4K4Ku4Gzhnoe8 We would ask that the deadline to register would be Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Sincerely,

James A. Reilly

A Parent's Guide to COVID-19

Please see the attached PDF as a parent reference to check for symptoms and understand when it is okay for your child to return to school. This is the same protocol and expectations for all staff as well.

GWRSD Chromebooks - Technology Assistance

For hybrid students that need a computer at home, we are requesting that your child brings their computer home and to school daily. If in the event that we are not back in school due to a closure, your child would be expected to participate in their education remotely. The Chromebook is an essential tool for 21st century learners and your assistance in helping your child create a routine to bring it back to school and bring it home daily is greatly appreciated.
