Message from Mrs. Langston
I enjoyed meeting everyone in our classroom family over the past week. Our students are amazing, and I cannot wait to learn more about them throughout our year. Here are just a few reminders:
Our Specials Schedule for the Week
Monday-PE. wear those tennis shoes
Tuesday-Art
Wednesday-PEwear those tennis shoes
Thursday-Music
Friday-PE wear those tennis shoes
School Supplies
Please make sure to bring all of your school supplies on Monday. I like to help students organize their supplies so they can take care of them responsibly.
Snacks and Water Bottles
We have a snack every day, so please send your kiddos with a small snack every day. As you already know, they are always hungry! Please send a water bottle each day. At this time, we are not allowed to drink from water fountains.
Take Home Folders and Daily Behavior Log
Each student will be coming home with a green take-home folder. Please check this folder nightly. Inside this green folder, you will find important papers from the school and graded work completed in class. This folder is to be used for absent notes, signed paperwork, and any money. On the back of the green folder you will also find a monthly behavior log. Please look at those daily and initial them.
Homework
Our second graders work very hard every day. When they get home it is time to rest, spend time with family, and pursue interests like dance, soccer, etc.). So, this year all of our Letterland homework assignments are going to be done at school. As long as your child gets to school on time, they will never have Letterland spelling homework However, you may still want to review these lists when their work comes home each night. The only thing I ask is that each night your child reads, and this can include you reading to them, or them to you. Reading daily is so important. After you read let them write down what they read and the total minutes reading so the next day we can all brag about what great readers we are becoming!
Learning Goals for the Week
I can answer who, what, where, when and why questions about a text.
I can print upper and lower case letters legibly.
I can participate in conversations about 2nd grade topics.
I can fluently add and subtract to 20.
I can discuss ways to be a good friend.
Mrs. Langston is here to help you!
