CMS Families,

Great week at CMS.

5th graders completed their Nature Scopes Binocular Program for Solar Systems this week. The Nature Scopes was established in 2003, in response to research showing that close encounters with nature create a direct, personal involvement with the outdoors that cannot be matched by classroom discussion or photos in textbooks. This year-long program supplements school science instruction by providing hands-on lessons matched to the Ohio Content Standards for fifth-grade science education.

Drink Local, Drink Tap returned to CMS to discuss micropollutants. The presentation and discussion focused on plastics and pollution in our oceans. Click HERE to learn more about the Drink Local Drink Tap organization.

Two grade-level meetings were held with ALL 6th and 7th graders about what we expect of our CMS students. The topics included cell phone usage, Chromebook cases, bathroom etiquette/behavior, and the new lunch recess changes. Several engaging academic opportunities and experiences are planned for students and their behavior and choices will determine their participation. Please remind your student(s) to be Carming, Mindful, and Solution-Focused. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Enjoy your weekend.

Candy Grams

Candy Grams

Student Council is preparing our winter fundraiser and will be selling Candy Grams at lunch during the week of February 6th-10th. They will be priced at $1 each or, for a nicer option, $4 each, and all will include a small personalized card filled out by the sender. They will be delivered on Tuesday, February 14th.

Note: Student Council felt it was important for ALL students to receive a gram, so they will be delivering one to each CMS student on Valentine's Day along with the purchased grams - this is a SECRET, though, so please don't mention it to your student.
