Impact Aid Program Survey Cards
Impact Aid Program survey cards will be sent home on Monday, September 25th. After carefully reading the instructions located on the back of the card, please fill out the front IN PENCIL and return the card with your student on Tuesday, September 26th. Since 1950, Congress has provided financial assistance to school districts through the Impact Aid Program. School districts with concentrations of students whose parents are affiliated with the military, either as Active Duty service members or as federal employees that report to work on a federal property, can benefit under this law. Every year, Onslow County Schools participates in the Federal Impact Aid Program to supplement the county’s loss of income tax revenue from the 32% of land owned by the Federal Government, which is exempt from local property tax. Please note: this has no effect on property tax, sales tax, or income tax for individuals. Receiving a card for every student, regardless of their military affiliation, is crucial to the success of the program. Onslow County Schools heavily depends on this program to assist in providing the best education possible for our students. Should you have any questions, please contact your student’s homeroom teacher or Trexler's Impact Aid contact person, Amy Rowntree, at 910-324-4414 or amy.rowntree@onslow.k12.nc.us..
7th Grade Immunizations

OCS is legally required to exclude students who do not have documentation showing they received the required vaccinations within 30 calendar days of the first day of school. If your child has already received their required vaccines, please give an updated copy of your child's shot record to the front office. If you have questions about your child's immunizations you can contact TMS School Nurse, Felita Maready, at 910.324.4414 or by emailing Felita.Maready@onslow.k12.nc.us.

Students that are scheduled to receive these vaccines should make every effort to be at school on this day.

Box Tops for Education
Did you know that Box Tops for Education can benefit Trexler? Trexler AVID students have organized a school-wide collection to benefit the TMS AVID program. Box Tops can add up very quickly because they are available on several products. This is a great way to earn money for the school by simply cutting out the Box Tops on your grocery items and sending them to school with your student. Visit btfe.com for more information and a list of all participating products. There will be an incentive for the homeroom that returns the most Box Tops. Thank you for your support.
PTO Sponsored Dance
On Thursday, September 28th, Trexler's PTO will host a school dance immediately after school. The cost of admission is $6.00 and concessions will be available. Parents may arrive early, but all rides should be at the school by 4:30 pm. As a reminder, the Onslow County School District has implemented new requirements for Middle Schools to ensure that student lunch accounts are paid in full. Therefore, students will need to be current on all accounts and school fees to attend school dances that occur after September 2017.
AVID Field Trip
Trexler AVID students will travel to Camp Don Lee on Monday, September 25th or Wednesday, September 27th. The students will be participating in a program called "Common Ground". All students will be required to work together as a team on a challenge course that creates opportunities to accomplish goals, complete tasks, and overcome obstacles throughout the program. It is a very rewarding and fun way for students to learn how to collaborate to reach a common goal.
