October Updates
School Spirit Day
On Friday, October 5th, students, faculty and staff are asked to show their school spirit by wearing blue and white to school. Let’s see if we can join together and turn our halls into a sea of Medway blue and white! Go Mustangs!

Summer Reading Goal Achieved!
Student Celebration Scheduled
We are proud of our students for accomplishing their summer reading goal. We have attempted to schedule our Summer Reading Celebration for several weeks, however, the weather has not cooperated. We have decided that this Friday, October 5th, we will celebrate... rain or shine!
Students who logged summer reading minutes or returned reading logs/documentation will be entered into a drawing to participate in a faculty version of “Drip, Drip, Drop.” or “Minute to Win It” activities depending on the weather.
For those of you unfamiliar with Drip, Drip Drop, it resembles Duck, Duck Goose. However, in this version, the student who is “it” will be holding a cup of water and dripping water on instead of tapping the head of the faculty members sitting around the circle. If we are indoors, we will pair students with faculty members and these teams will compete in singing, dancing and building competitions. Whatever the weather, it is sure to be a memorable event!
iReady
Over the past two weeks, Memorial School Students have been participating in the iReady diagnostic assessment for reading and mathematics. iReady is an online assessment tool which will assess students across the key domains in reading and mathematics. The iReady diagnostic is an adaptive test that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s performance. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier questions. The adaptive nature of the assessment provides us more information about your child's areas of strength in reading and mathematics and their areas of need. iReady results will help to identify both struggling learners and learners needing acceleration, providing meaningful information to teachers and parents.
Once the assessments are complete, teachers will use the information to plan instruction. We will also use this information to identify students who require additional interventions. Parents will receive a parent report once all students have completed the assessment.
We look forward to using this assessment to enrich your child’s educational experience. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the office with any questions or concerns.
Lost and Found
Last week, we opened our new Lost and Found! Believe it or not there are already items filling the racks. If your child is missing sweaters, sweatshirts, lunch boxes or other items, please encourage your child to look through our lost and found. Our lost and found is located outside of the cafeteria. Any items not claimed by the Thanksgiving break will be donated to a local organization.
Please remember to include your child’s name or room number on personal items.
