April Update

Monthly Update

Spring has finally started to arrive, although most days still feel like winter! We are excited to begin our fourth quarter and conclude the 2021-2022 school year! During these last two months our students and staff will be very busy!

We are currently in the process of developing our end-of-the-year activities and events. We will communicate this information with you as soon as we can. Some fun events for our students to look forward to include: Field Day, Spring Music Program, Kindergarten Graduation, Sixth Grade Banquet, and many more!

Boise Hawks Assembly and the ISAT

We have officially began our ISAT testing! On Monday, we had the opportunity to invite two Boise Hawks players to our school to help us host a motivational assembly to kick-off our ISAT testing and help encourage our students to be motivated and excited for the ISAT! Students in the third through sixth grade had a great time learning about the hard work and dedication both Boise Hawks players demonstrated to help them reach their goals and dreams. Students then had the opportunity to ask the players some fun questions and play a Minute to Win It game. Students then received a small treat to help them "Reach for the Gold!"

Students will continue to participate in this assessment through April 14th. Please encourage your child to do their best by ensuring they get a good night's rest, a healthy breakfast each morning, and positive encouragement before coming to school. Your child's teacher will be in contact with you to inform you about the specific dates your child will be taking each assessment and the opportunity to volunteer to send any needed snacks to prep them for this assessment.

Fifth Grade Musical

Mrs. Olsen and our fifth graders performed our very first school musical for our parents and community and it was amazing! Students had prepared for the play for over two months by attending afterschool practices as well as many of those students giving up their recess times to work with Mrs. Olsen individually on their lines. It was so fun to see all their hard work and dedication pay off as they performed with such confidence and grace. Thank you for your support with this event. This was such a great opportunity for our students and it was so great to see students discovering their very own musical interests and talents. Also, a special thank you to our fifth grade teachers for all of their help and support to help make this event possible. Nice job Mrs. Olsen and Fifth Grade!

Mustangs SHINE!

This month we reviewed both the "I" and "N" in SHINE. The "I" stands for invest in yourself and the "N" stands for notices others. Students have noticed others by showing empathy, being a friend to others, and helping someone who may need help! Students have also invested in themselves by asking questions when they are unsure, taking pride in their positive behavior, and trying to beat their best. When students or classes are caught demonstrating these qualities, they earn a star for their grade level. Because of the short month in March, we will continue this competition between the grade levels in April. Students will include the "E" in SHINE which represents encouraging excellence! Good luck to all our students!

March Mustangs of the Month

Each month, every teacher nominates a student that demonstrated the qualities of SHINE! Here are the students that invested in themselves and took time to notice others for the month of March:
