Harding Elementary Newsletter
April 2023
April News from the Office
April is upon us with wet weather and warmer temperatures. Luckily, it seems as though we escaped winter with little disruption to school schedules. As we begin to warm up, students in grades 3-5 are warming up for PSSA testing at the end of April and into May.
The PSSA (Pennsylvania System of School Assessment) is a standards-based assessment administered in all Pennsylvania public schools. Students will receive a score in one of four levels: Advanced, Proficient, Basic and Below Basic. The PSSA is an opportunity for your child to showcase their strengths and assist our school with the planning of curriculum and instruction to best support your child(ren).
Testing Dates:
ELA: 4/25 - 4/27
Math: 5/2 - 5/3
Science (4th grade only): 5/9 - 5/10
Please review some of the resources below for more information about PSSA testing.
We would also like to wish you and your family a safe and healthy Spring Break. We hope you have a relaxing and joyful break with family and friends.
Thank you for the support and communication between home and school. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to our office.
Thank you,
Harding Elementary Administration

SWPBIS
Harding's School-Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) program is committed to establishing a social culture within our school in which students expect and support appropriate behavior from one another. At Harding, we strive to...
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Be Safe
Students who show these traits are rewarded with blue tickets from teachers as recognition of their positive character traits. Each week, winners from each grade level are selected from the collected blue tickets to earn special prizes. In March, the choices are:
1. Teacher Helper (winner picks a teacher to help for 20 minutes)
2. Extra PE with Mr. Doster (student gets 15 extra minutes of PE with Mr. Doster)
3. Visit with Mr. Reager
Certain students also have the opportunity to receive Golden Tickets which allow them to participate in a special monthly reward. Please encourage ways for your child to be respectful, responsible, and safe while at home as well. We appreciate and value the connection between home and school.
Mrs. Ward's Counseling Page
Welcome to the Harding Elementary School Counseling Webpage! Feel free to use the virtual counseling room with students. The webpage also includes contact information for outside services to further support the students in our school. My hope is that this webpage will become a useful tool for the students and families in our school during times of stress and anxiety. Let’s make the future a bright one!
