As part of the P.L.A.Y. Initiative (Practice Leagues for Active Youth), students across Dallas ISD will be engaged in their school community by learning about and playing sports that will:
- Expand sport-specific knowledge and skills
- Increase self-esteem
- Provide positive social interactions
- Increase physical activity and fitness levels
- Allow avenues to have fun, regardless of skill level
Each semester will include 4 PLAY Period Sessions that include 8 different sports. Fourth and fifth grade students will get to experience softball, basketball, soccer, flag football, lacrosse, field hockey, pickleball and futsal (indoor soccer), in a co-ed setting. There is absolutely no barrier to entry, including academic grades. In fact, our motto is Anyone and Everyone Plays No Matter What!

Important Things to Remember
- School starts at 8 a.m. Your child is considered tardy at 8:00 a.m. Please ensure they arrive at school by 7:50 a.m. so that they can be in class and ready to learn at 8.
- If your child is ill, please ensure that you send an excuse note to school when they return. You may also email the attendance note to Ms. Medina at ljaramillo@dallasisd.org.
- Early pick ups also impact student learning. No early pickups will be allowed after 2:30 p.m.
