Principal's Message
On December 1st, Fernwood began a “12 days of Kindness” holiday challenge. All 6th-8th grade convocations classes were given a poster tree with 12 blank ornaments on it. Each day up until 12/18 (for 12 days) classes have been selecting an act of kindness to do as a group. Students have been busy thanking our cafeteria staff and principals, writing encouraging notes to class-mates, cleaning up around the school, and complimenting others.
Congratulations to our 1st round of winners who were randomly selected based on participation: Mr. Mosetti’s convocation; Mrs. Dellas’s convocation; and Mr. Ayar’s convocation.
Let’s keep spreading Kindness around Fernwood!
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
The Giver
Students in Mrs. Vanderheyden's ELA classes participated in a silent discussion in response to an excerpt from The Giver by Lois Lowry. Students continue to develop critical thinking skills through a close analysis of the novel with an emphasis on theme development.
Book folding in the library!
7th graders in silver pod came to the library to learn how to "repurpose" old library books and magazines into festive origami trees! Students had fun folding and relaxing with friends!
