Poster Contest Winners
Congratulations to Beatrice Gilmore School fourth grade student Francesca Huelmo, shown at left with Passaic County Clerk Danielle Ireland-Imhof! She was one of the 12 selected winners of the 27th Annual My County Poster Calendar Contest. The County received 471 submissions by fourth grade students from across all 10 municipalities in Passaic County. Francesca’s artwork is showcased on the 2023 Passaic County Calendar Poster for the month of December. Congratulations also to fourth grader Viviana Galindo (center) who received an honorable mention, and Mrs. Farrell, art teacher at BG and Memorial Schools, who oversaw the students' work. The 12 winning posters are displayed on a large poster calendar that is distributed to schools, government offices, libraries, and other locations. Shown at right are some additional fourth graders who were recognized for their contributions.

Construction Work On Early Childhood Center Begins
Construction work has begun on our Early Childhood Center on Lackawanna Avenue. The site of the former Magic Years Pre-School Learning Center served Woodland Park and area families for over 40 years and now has become a part of the Woodland Park School District. We look forward to opening the building to serve approximately 60 PreK-3 and PreK-4 students on the site in September. We will continue to keep you updated on the construction progress. Registration for PreK is ongoing. Parents can register their 3 or 4-year-old at any time. For registration information, click here.

Monday's BOE Meeting To Feature Start Strong Presentation
Student Start Strong performance levels are currently available to view through the Parent Portal for grades 4-8.
The Start Strong assessments were designed to inform instruction by providing educators — as well as parents — with an early indication of the level of support students may need as they enter a new school year. The Start Strong assessments were given in the fall and assessed students on a subset of priority standards from the prior school year. The tests were created to help educators and families better understand, at the beginning of the school year, what educational support students may need to succeed in the current school year.
There will be a Start Strong district performance presentation at Monday evening's Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held in Municipal Chambers, 5 Brophy Lane. It can be viewed live on cable channel 77 on Optimum or 23 on Fios, or online live here. If you miss the live stream, the meeting video will be posted afterward here.
