EHS Girls Basketball is State Bound!
Varsity Girls Basketball - Coach Parker
The Cardinals are STATE BOUND! The ladies picked up two home victories last week to punch their ticket to Salina. In the first round, the Cardinals defeated Coffeyville, 60-19. Multiple Cardinals got involved in the victory. Sophomore Harper Schreiner led the scoring with a game-high 21 points. Senior Riley Hiebert scored 11 points while junior Jayla Pierce and sophomore Emma Durr added 7 and 6 for the Cardinals. Senior Reagan Hiebert contributed 4 steals. Junior Melia Martin and sophomore Sophia Ewy contributed 5 rebounds a piece. The bench also got involved in the scoring as sophomore MacKenzie Mayer scored 4 points and junior Brylee Graff and freshman Sawyer Schreiner added 2 points a piece.
Friday night was the sub-state championship game against Paola. The game was a hard-fought battle as the Cardinals survived, 33-28. The ladies showed the characteristic that has guided them all year, perseverance, to pull out the win against the Panthers. The offense for the Cardinals struggled all night. The game was won with a strong defensive effort and timely rebounding. Schreiner and Riley Hiebert, once again, led the team in scoring with 13 and 11. Durr and Pierce added big rebounds in the 4th quarter to preserve the victory. The Cardinals are the #2 seed at the state tournament and will play Clay Center on Wednesday at 3:00pm in Salina. The team would like to thank the student body for all of their support Friday night. It was a loud environment and it factored in our win! We hope to see you all in Salina!!!
Varsity Boys Basketball - Coach Deterding

JV Boys Basketball - Coach Watkins
On Tuesday, February 25th Baldwin JV traveled t Eudora for our 2nd game of the year against them on Senior Night. We came out a bit cold in the 1st qtr but then turned it around in the 2nd qtr and started to pull away and play some better team basketball. The 3rd and the 4th were much of the same which was making that lead grow the way we wanted it too. Eudora ended up winning 58-42 with sophomore Cody Loganbill leading us in scoring with 17pts and taking a charge, sophomore Brayden Beerbower grabbed 7 rebounds, and sophomore Landon Watkins added 5 steals and took a charge.
On Friday February 28th we traveled to Piper for our last JV contest of the year. We knew it was going to be a tough one and it was that for sure. Piper was a very strong, physical big team that we knew our matchups would be tough. Our boys played there hearts out and just wouldn’t stop fighting no matter what was thrown at them. The first half was a back and forth contest with them leading by three at the half. We emphasized being tough at halftime and getting our butts into them on rebounds. The 2nd half we were determined not to be stopped and played some real good scoring basketball and defense really locked down and did what they had to do. We put them away in the 4th 56-49 with some big shots by Landon, Brayden and Cody down the stretch. Landon Watkins led us with 16pts, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals, while Cody Loganbill snagged another charge for us. Brayden Beerbower added 11 huge points for us with 3 assist and 2 steals. Freshman Jaden Hamm came back from an MCL issue to play the last game and really battled the post strong for us. All four of the freshman that played (Kale Hammerschmidt., Cole Parker, Connor Dunback, and Jaden Hamm) all had vital roles for me this year and I couldn’t be prouder of each of them and look forward to the next three years with these boys. Good kids with even better parents guiding them.
We ended the season at 15-3 with an 11-1 league record and a 14 game win streak to end the season. As I reflect on the season we had these boys played their butts off on many occasions. This was truly a JV season as none of the boys really seen any significant Varsity time but had to play against Varsity players in every game we played against someone this year. So they showed they could play with those players and even show out against them which I loved to see each game. My lone Junior Ben Thorne improved all season. The 5 Sophomores I’ve coached since they were in 5th grade in some capacity and they have given me a lot of great joy throughout the years but this year took the cake on their determination not to be forgotten about and looked over for future roles on this team. Thank you, boys, for your hard work and not quit attitude and can’t wait until next year. Go CARDS!!!!

All Night Prom Fundraiser - Win a side of beef!
The EHS Parents All-Night Prom Committee has been busy at work getting ready for this year’s All Night Prom. This year’s All Night Prom will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020. This is the 30th year for the All-Night Prom in Eudora! It is solely run and organized by parent volunteers. After the formal prom, we have a lock-in for all EHS Juniors and Seniors and their dates at Eudora Middle School. We feed them, have inflatables and games, and draw for door prizes all night long. We don’t allow anyone to leave unless we talk to a parent to get permission. Everyone is then dismissed at 6 am with a bag of loot. We’ve managed to keep the students of EHS safe and prevented them from making poor choices by holding this safe parent-sponsored event for 29 consecutive years. Our parent committee fundraises by soliciting cash and in-kind donations from businesses and individuals. We are currently in the process of fundraising for All Night Prom. Each year the All Night Prom Committee raffles off a chance to win a side of beef. Thanks to Neis Brother Farms for donating this year! It is a HUGE donation that we are very grateful for, as it has the potential to raise a lot of money for us. All proceeds raised will help pay for this year’s EHS All Night Prom.
All juniors and seniors were given 10 beef raffle tickets to sell. Tickets prices are 1 ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20. The person purchasing the ticket(s) keeps the info part of the ticket. The stub with name/email/phone should be turned in to the EHS Office (Career Center), along with the payment collected, to Theresa Abel. Mrs. Abel is kind enough to be tracking everyone’s sales for us so that we can award prizes to those who sell the most raffle tickets.
Checks can be made out to the EHS Parents Prom Committee or, of course, people can pay cash. If your student sells all 10 of their tickets and needs more, please have them visit Mrs. Abel, and she can give them additional tickets to sell.
All ticket sales are due to Mrs. Abel in the Career Center by the end of the school day on Friday, April 10, 2020. The drawing for the side of beef will be held on Monday, April 13, 2020.
