Where kindness begins with me!
Dear Boals’ Families,
Happy Fall! The time is sure flying by and our students continue to grow and excel each day. I have captured some "Magical Moments" happening on campus this week in various grade levels.
Fall Parent Conferences will begin on October 7 and run through November 22. Your child's teacher will be reaching out or has already reached out to set up a time to meet with you.
As you prepare for your Parent Conference, here are a few tips for an effective conference.
Tips for Parents on Parent-Teacher Conferences
How Should Parents Navigate This All-Important Meeting?
Get Ready. Do your homework prior to parent-teacher conferences. Prepare by writing notes to yourself concerning:
- Any questions about the school’s programs or policies.
- Things you can share with the teacher about your child and his life at home.
- Questions about your child’s progress.
Ask Important Questions
Don’t be afraid to engage in an open conversation with your child’s teacher. Your goal is to develop an action plan for your child’s success at school. Good questions to ask the teacher include:
- What are my child’s strengths and areas of growth?
- How does my child get along with classmates?
- Is my child working up to her ability? Where could she use improvement?
- What can we do at home to support what you are doing in the classroom?
When teachers and parents work together, we can help a child have a successful school year.

Reflections Program – LOOK WITHIN
The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the program, National PTA, Boals PTA, and PTAs across the country encourages students to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice— dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts — reflecting on a specific theme. There is also a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in the program. With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story. Students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful.
The 2019-2020 theme is ‘Look Within’. Entries are due to the front office by October 25, 2019. Rules and entry forms can be found at https://www.txpta.org/reflections-participation. Please see the attached flyer for additional information, or contact email@example.com.
We could use your help during one of their favorite times of the day...lunch! Having a few extra hands in the cafeteria during their lunch shift to help open packages, obtain utensils, and monitor students would help us so much!
Volunteering at Boals provides a good opportunity to support your students in a fun environment, where you will make connections and friendships with other parents in the same stage of life as you.
