ESOL Instructor Resources
If you have a successful lesson and would like to share, please email me! Anyone else use the resources from last week? How did it go? Did you try 3-2-1 strategy?
During the Faculty Kick-Off, I mentioned about highly tested items on the CASAS exam when I was preparing the Instructional Pacing Calendars. Please see chart below. Definitely eye opening!
How did the first week go? Essential question? Did you plan or just wing it?
The Importance of Planning
Lesson planning is at the heart of being an effective teacher. A teacher with a plan, then, is a more confident teacher (Jensen, 2001). The lesson will tend to flow more smoothly because all the information has been gathered and the details have been decided upon beforehand.
Reflection: Think of a time when you came to class without a lesson plan. How did you feel? How would the lesson have been improved with more thorough planning?
When planning your lessons, think of:
1. objective
2. sequence of activities
3. materials needed
4. how long each activity might take
5. how students should be grouped
