Pumpkin Character Walk - October 31st

The Pumpkin Character Walk is Wednesday, so students will need to bring their decorated pumpkin and book to school on or before Wednesday. Pumpkins and books will be placed on display in the hallways for grade levels to walk through and see all of the creative work!

Here is the schedule for the Gallery Walk:

  • 8:30-9:00: PPCD, PK, and Kindergarten
  • 9:15-9:45: 1st Grade
  • 10:00-10:30: 2nd Grade
  • 10:45-11:15: 3rd Grade

A few pumpkins have already started coming in and they look fantastic! We can't wait to see how cute the pumpkins turned out.

Halloween Reminder

We have 3 designated "party" days...Winter (December 19th), Valentine's Day (February 14th), and the last day of school (May 23rd). Halloween is not a designated party day, so in order to keep our students with allergies safe, please do not send in treats on Wednesday. We also ask that students keep Halloween costumes at home and not wear them to school.

Perfect Attendance/Honor Roll Recognition

We will recognize Perfect Attendance and Honor Roll recipients on Thursday, November 1st during lunches. Students earn perfect attendance by being present every day from 7:45 am to 3:00 pm (without being tardy) and staying at school all day.

From the LVES Student Handbook, page 71:

"Students who leave early will not be eligible for recognition for perfect attendance, unless a doctor’s note is provided excusing the early dismissal from school."

If you have any questions, please contact Veronica Fidencio at

Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade will be recognized for Perfect Attendance. Third grade students will be recognized for Honor Roll.

last running of the vikings of the season is November lined up at the north end zone by 6:50 pm!

Football Players and Cheerleaders Last Visit on Friday; Kinder Travels to Pep Rally

Football players and cheerleaders will visit our campus for the last time this season Friday, November 2nd. Thank you to Coach Phillips and Coach Baugh for bringing the players and cheerleaders over this season...our students have enjoyed playing games, learning cheers/football plays, getting their face painted, and getting autographs from their favorite player and cheerleader.

Kindergarten classes will travel to LVHS for the last home pep rally of the season. They will depart LVES at 10:45 and return around 11:30. Kindergarten students will have lunch in their classrooms when they return to campus. Parents are welcome to attend the pep rally, but will need to meet the students at LVHS.

Lost and Found

Cold weather hasn't started yet, but we have a lot of jackets (among other items) in the Lost and Found. If your child is missing his/her jacket, or lunchbox, please have them stop by the Lost and Found bin located in the corner of the cafeteria. Please make sure you label jackets, lunchboxes, and backpacks with your child's name so we can reunite lost items with their owners.

Character Trait of The Month...

October's Character Trait of The Month is Respect. Here are few ways we can show Respect...

  • Treat others with Respect, follow the Golden Rule;
  • Be tolerant and accepting of differences;
  • Use good manners, not bad language;
  • Be considerate of the feelings of others;
  • Don't threaten, hit or hurt anyone;
  • Deal peacefully with anger, insults, and disagreements.

Students will learn more about this month's character trait in weekly Guidance lessons.

Counselor's Corner

Hello LVES Families! This has been a fun month of learning about Respect and Red Ribbon Week! Our Red Ribbon Week activities are meant to be fun reminders for students to respect themselves and make good choices. At the young elementary level we mainly focus on understanding that there is a difference between good and bad drugs, making positive choices, and doing your best to live a healthy, drug-free life. Students also signed our No Place for Hate Resolution of Respect, which states, “I promise to do my best to treat everyone fairly; I promise to do my best to be kind to everyone--even if they are not like me; If I see someone being hurt or bullied I will report it to an adult; Everyone at school should be able to feel safe and happy at school; and I want our school to be No Place for Hate.”

Thank you for supporting our efforts to encourage all students to respect themselves and others!

Perhaps the surest test of an individual's integrity is his refusal to do or say anything that would damage his self-respect.” ~Thomas S. Monson

~Thomas S. Monson

LVES Office Hours

Our front office is open Monday-Friday from 7:30-4:00 pm. If you call before or after that time, you will need to leave a message and someone from the office staff will return your call the next day.
