A Word from Your Friendly Neighborhood Principal. . .
Parents,
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday! Remember that Monday is a holiday, so no school. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our parents who volunteer their time and efforts to support our school. From Mrs. Abraham who volunteers in our office, to Mrs. Thames changing the front sign, to Mrs. Farrow and Mrs. Kucera doing monthly teacher appreciation events in our lounge, to the numerous parents who volunteer to assist for hearing/speech screeenings, and to our PTO board who gives their time to organize and support our students and staff! THANK YOU!!
Join me in congratulating our 5th grade spelling bee winners and our December Golden Bear Award recipients! We are so proud of you!! Good luck to our 5th grade spellers, our RHES Bee is on Wednesday!
Remind your child about the Life Lesson Challenge! We will accept student life lessons until January 27th! We encourage the students to use WeVideo which is on their Chromebooks and has loads of fun tools and features. For our younger students, a simple video on a phone will work as well. Send video links to christy.hollar@lcps.org.
Sincerely,
Andrew Davis - Principal
December Golden Bear Award Winners!
We are excited to announce our ROUND HILL GOLDEN BEARS for the month!
Each month, a student from every classroom is nominated to receive this award. All students chosen for this award model our 3 R’s at Round Hill Elementary - they are Respectful, Responsible and Ready to learn each and every day!
To celebrate our Round Hill Golden Bears, each student nominated is announced on our Morning News Show the first Wednesday of each month. In addition, they will receive a certificate that includes the reasons why their teacher chose them for this award along with a golden bear paw charm. Annual Appalachian Trail Art Show (2/5-3/12)
The purpose of the show is to broaden public awareness and appreciation of the Appalachian Trail. Artists are welcome to submit their choice of artistic expression, including paintings, drawing, photography, fiber arts, stained glass, and sculpture. The show also welcomes artists in grades K-12. Artwork submissions for the AT Art Show are due January 20th to January 22nd.
We hope that some of the students will submit a piece of artwork that portrays the Appalachian Trail or a symbol of the Appalachian Trail. Examples of images or symbols include:
1. Empowering Youth
2. Volunteers & Civic Engagement
3. Compass, Maps & Navigation
4. Vast Natural Beauty
5. Priceless Cultural Heritage
6. Connect Human Spirit with Nature
7. Protect the Night Skies
8. Leave No Trace
9. Family Adventures Outside
10. Endurance Challenge
It was our hope that students may like to create their art pieces over winter break. The finished work can hang on the wall or from the ceiling or sit on a pedestal or the floor.
Artwork will be on display at the Arts Center from February 5, 2023 through March 12, 2023
There will be an Opening Reception with refreshments on February 5, 2023 from 2 pm to 4 pm. The Arts Center is located in the Hill High Orchards complex on Route 7, west of Round Hill. For more information visit: The Round Hill Arts Center
