This certainly was an interesting week and weekend. This week we have Veterans Day coming up. We have many staff members and students who have family members who serve or have served in the military. Veteran's day is important for us. Even though we are off that day, please take the time to thank a veteran close to you. We have about 9 weeks to the end of the semester. Please encourage your children to maintain contact with their teachers and attend office hours. Many students need that extra support to review material. Our teachers are available.
There is some repeat material in here especially about academic information and fundraising. If you haven't done so, please review this entire newsletter with the important information.
Sincerely,
Mike D'Ostilio, Principal

Better Instruction Occurs When We Can Interact With Your Child and See Their Face
The week of October 19 will be a pivotal week as we require students in grades 6 through 12 to follow their schedules and attend live sessions with their teachers. Teachers will take attendance at these sessions and enter attendance codes into PowerSchool. The following codes will be used:
Face-to-Face
A (absent)
CP (cohort present)
Remote
DLP (distance learning present)
A (distance learning absent)
VERY, VERY IMPORTANT
It is still critical that students log into Schoology every school day and open each class for each day. The link to enter the live session will be posted in that class. Students that are working remotely will not be required to enter the virtual study hall or lunch.
We believe this new protocol will encourage students to increase their level of engagement daily and participating in a live session on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will be easy to verify for attendance purposes. We hope this measure will motivate students to establish a consistent pattern of attendance that will have a positive impact on learning.
