Celebrating the Life of Martin Luther King, Jr.
Music Class with Mrs. Levesque
Second graders sang the song, What Can One Little Person Do by Sally Rogers. The four verses of the song highlight the brave acts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, and Sojourner Truth. The children then reflected on what they could do to make the world a better place and illustrated pages for a class book.
First Grade
Students were challenged to use building materials including blocks and Magnatiles to design a podium that would hold Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A toy figure was used in his place. Students listened to a Bookflix about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Lastly, first graders wrote about their dream to make the world a better place.
Second Grade
Third Grade
Students responded to photos of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the Civil Rights movement, and then had a class discussion about each photo.
