Schoolwide Literacy Initiative: Increase Reading Achievement
As a school identified by AK DEED for Targeted Support Intervention, we have the privilege to partner with Dr. Stephanie Buelow, Literacy professor at the University of Hawaii. Our school wide literacy goal is to increase student achievement in reading. Tanana will improve reading achievement by analyzing student work on a weekly basis. The actions we are taking to increase student achievement daily in our classrooms include:
1. Incorporating weekly literacy strategies into all subject areas which incorporate reading and writing.
2. Committing to daily Sustained Silent Reading for 15 minutes to increase reading stamina and fluency during our Student Success Planning time.

Doors open at 9:10 am
Valentines Day
Valentine's Day is right around the corner! Due to COVID and a focus on student safety, Tanana won't be participating in Valentines exchanges of any kind at school this year. Please do not bring Valentines to school. We encourage our students and families to celebrate this day as they see fit outside of school.
UPDATE: Parent Teacher Conferences: February 15, 2021 - February 16, 2021
How will the teachers be organized to discuss the progress of my child?
First, you need to know since we are organized in teams where we support students to complete interdisciplinary projects we need to meet with our families as a team of teachers. This will include the science, social studies, and English teachers. Our elective teachers will join your child's conference to the extent possible. Second, we recognize the importance of having the opportunity to meet with one of our math teachers to discuss your child's specific needs in a 1:1 setting.
How do I schedule my appointment?
Schedule one time slot for your child's house conference (Red, Yellow, or Orange) and schedule a second time slot for math, if you want to meet one on one with your child's math teacher.
