Happy Thanksgiving!
THANKSGIVING MESSAGE
Dear Heritage Community,
The first part of the 2021-2022 year has gone by quickly, and it has been a very exciting time. It has been amazing to welcome the students and staff back to the halls of Heritage and enjoy school in the most traditional way possible. Parents have met with their children’s teachers during parent conferences at the beginning of the month. It is vital that we continue this momentum with open communication to help all of our students have an incredibly successful school year. Our school is coming upon the close of the first trimester and information regarding report cards will be coming soon.
As we reflect on the many things for which we are thankful, I want to take this opportunity to share just a few of them with you: We are thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to learn – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we choose to do what we do. We are thankful for the support of the parents in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. We are thankful for the teachers, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, administrative assistants, nurses, cafeteria workers, support staff, and therapists who really care about student achievement and have the best interests of our students in mind.
In these most difficult and challenging times, we see dedicated and tireless individuals going above and beyond to make sure that great things happen in our school. They do make a difference, and the children, in their own individual ways, benefit from those efforts.
Most importantly, we are thankful for the parents that continue to provide us with the opportunity to educate their children. They continue to share their most valuable possessions with us. They continue to work hard and advocate to be a partner in their children’s education, safety and well-being. For this, we are ever so thankful.
I would like to wish all of you and your families a happy, healthy and relaxing Thanksgiving holiday!
Absenteeism and Make Up Work
COVID Information
We support student access to outside activities as we return to many more preCOVID experiences in our communities. Like other Districts, we have had increased numbers of positive cases in our schools. The vast majority are still closely tied to a positive in the household or a positive in outside activities. All we ask is to work together to keep COVID out of the schools. Our protocols begin with symptoms, but also address close contacts in our schools. Identifying and monitoring close contacts is a very difficult endeavor. We appreciate your open lines of communication when a DCRSD Nurse or designated personnel contact you. The Test and Stay program has kept close contacts in school. You can provide consent and remove consent at any time. The DCRSD is not participating in pooled testing. It is listed on the consent form, but again, we are not participating in pooled testing.
As a reminder over the holiday break, COVID continues to be closely tied to the following symptoms:
- Fever (100.4 Fahrenheit or higher)
- Chills or shaking chills
- Uncontrolled new cough (not due to other known cause, such as chronic cough)
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- New loss of taste or smell
If your child has any of these symptoms, please keep them home and contact the school nurse on Monday, November 29, 2021.
Thank you CFD
