Tisch's Tidbits
Well, the flu bug has hit our home again. I know it has been going around as some of you are experiencing it, too. I'm home with Aubrey today and plan to be back to school tomorrow. We can't wash our hands enough!:)
In reading, we are working on imagery and symbolism. We are also focusing on using text evidence to support our answers.
We have started to learn about heredity, learned behaviors, instincts, and traits in science. This is a fairly short unit so we will be taking our test either next Friday or the the following week.
In English, we are working on level 3 and 4 with identifying prepositional phrases, direct objects, indirect objects, clauses, and identifying sentence types.
Our focus in writing is personal essays. We are working on collecting ideas, how to write a thesis statement and then using it to write a personal essay.
The children are also typing their final drafts for a story they wrote. They are using google docs so they can work on it both at home and school. The password should be:
first name-last name@stumail.zcs.k12.in.us (breanne-tisch@stumail.zcs.k12.in.us)
Eagleslunch code or eagleslunch code (Eagles3343 or eagles3343)
They have been working on them at school since the beginning of last week so I have asked that they be complete Wednesday. We also had time yesterday and today during our Learning for All time.

This week at Union we are celebrating “Random Acts of Kindness.” Each day our school will focus on a specific act of kindness. Teachers will be looking for students who are exhibiting those acts of kindness. If students show those skills he or she will sign the wall of fame and potentially earn a Smencil! Also, on Friday we are celebrating Valentine’s Day by wearing Valentine’s day colors. We are asking for quarter donations to go towards the PACKH2O organization! Please help your child exhibit acts of kindness at school this coming week! Here are the specific skills our school is working on! Monday-Helping, Tuesday-Role Model, Wednesday- Manners, Thursday-Encouragement, and Friday- Compliments. Thank you for showing school spirit all week long!
