Step by Step
A a thin layer of one color painted on the canvas so it covers the whole surface. Choose a good background color to start with. Say you want a warm sky start with an orange or a red. Or most of your painting is blue so start with blue.
Only draw large and important objects. No need for small details you can paint those in.
Start painting the background and work forward from there. No small details or brushes quite yet.
PAINTING THE MIDGROUND
Paint the middleground. Remember to save the whites until last and the most detail. Dark into light and you'll always be right.
PAINTING THE FOREGROUND
This is when you paint what is closes to you. You can start using smaller brushes, adding small details, and adding light values.
You have now made a well made painting, that you frame and hang on the wall with pride. Or on the refrigerator if you so choose.
