Calling All Counselors: Legislative Day 2016

Next Thursday, January 14th, VSCA board members and counselors from all over the state will attend Legislative Day at the capitol. School counselors who attend will have the chance to let policy-makers know the awesome impact we have on Virginia schools and Virginia's kids. Want to join the party? Details here.

Secondary Counselors: STI for Virtual Courses

Do you have students enrolled in Virtual Virginia courses? VDOE has asked that school counselors add the STI numbers for any student currently enrolled in a VIrtual Virginia course into the student information system by February 15, 2016. This will provide useful information to help with discussion on verified credit and graduation.

Questions? Email Mark Saunders at VDOE.

CTE Resources

Career Connections and the CTE Resource center have developed R U Ready? magazine for VDOE. This comprehensive career resource is available for free download. Be sure to check out Ready or Not, the companion teaching guide. The materials and topics are suitable for middle school and high school academic and career planning.

Mentors Make Magic Happen!

We've gotten through the first semester. Whew! Are any of my fellow first year counselors as overwhelmed as I am? Consider signing up to be paired with a mentor! Please contact Phyllis Holliman, our mentoring matchmaker.

Experienced counselors -- we're always looking for mentors, too!
