working hard in every situation

Imagine having a million and one things to do and having to do your best at all of them. Courtney and Claire O'Connor do that everyday. They go from work to coaching and then to another practice sometimes and they still work hard at everything they do, Claire and Courtney inspire me to work as hard as I can to get better. Without them I would not be the person I am today. They have influenced me to do my best every time I step on the ice or into a classroom.

what exactly is a hero?

What makes a hero? According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, a hero is a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities. For others a hero is Superman flying through the sky with his cape flapping in the wind. However, heroes are much more than crime fighters who save people from villains. A hero is someone to turn to for help and who never gives up.

how are my heroes and Wayne Gretzky alike?

Skating down the ice, Gretzky dekes a player on the opposing team, passes it across the crease to his teammate who shoots it, and scores!! He has earned the most points in NHL history with 2,857 career points. Gretzky won many awards and his number was retired throughout the NHL. That is a huge honor and he accepted it very respectfully. Wayne was an amazing hockey player whose selflessness and persistence made him an even better person.

does positivity even matter?

I can do this I think to myself. I race into the corner and win the battle to the 50/50 puck and take a shot on net. Flying through the the air it hits the crossbar and goes in to win the game. I am exhausted and full of energy at the same time. If I thought I would not win the race to the puck and just gave up, we would not have won the game. Positive attitudes can go along way in sports and in life. Being persistent through hard times with a positive attitude is much easier than a negative one that tells you to just give up. Having a positive attitude is essential for one to succeed.

inches explained

I included this video because we would listen to it before most games to pump us up. Claire and Courtney came in before one of our important games and put it on with all the lights off. After that we played one of the best games we ever played

good, better, best

My coaches put this on our team bracelet. The reason is because they want us to learn that you should never stop working hard. Always want to make your good better and your better into your best. This quote has inspired me to work my hardest everyday to make my good better and my better my best.

Thank you!

Dear Claire and Courtney,
I just wanted to thank you so much for coaching me the last year. It was a great experience that I will never forget. You helped me grow not only as a player but also a person. I will miss not being coached by you guys anymore. You have inspired me to hard work and play hard no matter what. I'm truly grateful for all that you have taught me and all the time you put into making me better. I hope you know how much it meant to me for you guys to take that much time out of your busy day to help us succeed. I know I say this for our entire team but we love you guys and can't wait to continue to play hockey. No matter how much we lost by or if we deserved to win or not or what ever happened you guys never stopped believing in us and that's the most important thing. When ever we lost confidence you guys would always tell us to not give up and that we could win. We may be the underdogs. Everyone may have expected us to lose but knowing you guys believed helped us work hard and try to beat them no matter how many times we lost. You always came into the rink knowing we could beat the other team. By the end of the season we weren't only a team but we were and will always be a family and I'm proud to say that I am apart of that family.
