Weekly Tiger News
Emerson Elementary Communication - June 17, 2021
Principal's Message
These past two days have been so fun as we celebrate all Emerson Tigers. Our 3rd and 4th grade students got to spend the last two days enjoying Morgan Town Park, fun classroom activities and celebrations. Our 5th and 6th grade students have had fun playing games, celebrating successes, and getting recognized for their accomplishments. On behalf of our entire staff, we can’t thank you enough for sending us such great kids. Our 6th grade students were amazing as always at their recognition and special lunch. We wish nothing but the best in middle school and beyond. “Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!” we will miss you.
We would like to thank the Centennial Masonic Lodge for the donation of two beautiful bikes. We also had an anonymous donor who donated four additional bikes. The essays were judged by three mystery judges selected by Mr. Hanson. These six students were able to convince the judges to why they needed a new bike: Mariah A., Camila S., Makena H., Miguel G., Eli J. and Dylan I. Pictured below are the students on their new wheels. Congratulations and please remember to bike safely and wear a helmet.
It is this time of year where people announce they are moving on from our building to new jobs, retirements, new states and things out of their control. We want to recognize these amazing staff members who will be moving on for the coming 2021-2022 school year. On this list are people who have dedicated more than three decades and many two decades to the Emerson Community. We can’t thank them enough for their service and dedication to students. The people on this list have made a huge mark on this place. We are both sad and joyful for them at the same time.
- Karen Tognotti (Para educator) and Becky Crawford (6th grade teacher) our retirees.
- Ed Kowalski (4th grade, behavior coach, leader) will be teaching at Valley View Middle School to teach Science/Math.
- Tanya Hasting (4/5/6) and JoAnn Chan (school psychologist) are both moving to Texas to be close to family.
- Christi Hood (para educator), Noel Strickland (para educator), Adam Weiss (Behavior Tech) were working the 2020-2021 school with us and we are uncertain of their plans at this time. We thank them for their outstanding support this year.
- Doug Focht (Substitute Music Teacher), Spencer Rice (6th grade remote teacher), Flo Arias (Student Intern/Volunteer extraordinaire), Isabella Lierman (Student Teacher) are all currently looking for their next move and whomever gets to hire them will be very lucky.
We appreciate all of you and know that the future looks bright.
We look forward to seeing you tomorrow (9:30-12:30 or 2:00-5:00) or on Monday (8:00-12:00) at the technology/materials return. Please call the office if you are unable to make the published times to arrange for an alternate time.
Have a great summer.
Go Tigers!
