Information Updates

What a great start to our school year Lincoln Landsharks!

This year we have started off super strong. Students are present and engaged in work. Many of our youngest students have been learning how to be "students" again; from walking down the hallway, to using their school tools. We appreciate your efforts in fostering every child's independence. If your child receives a homework assignment, please know this concept was covered in class. This is not new information. If your child struggles, simply write a note to the teacher and leave the work completed, whether it is correct or incorrect. This "teaches" the student responsibility and perseverance. It's ok if it's challenging. They can and will succeed!

Open House on Thursday September 30th, is from 4:00-6:00 pm. Please come, bring your children and enjoy. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet our NEW Assistant Principal, Mrs. Meghan Branco. We are delighted she is joining us at the Lincoln. She brings a plethora of knowledge and skills to this role. I know she can't wait to meet you all. Her contact information can be found at the end of this newsletter as well.

At Open House we will be offering:

  • FLU clinic
  • Lowell Community Health Center
  • Center for Hope and Healing
  • Lowell Health Department
  • Police Department
  • Softball league information
  • Mill City Grows
  • and PLEASE be sure to COME by! We HOPE to see you there!

We realize that transportation has been a national crisis, which is why the National Guard has been brought in to assist with the lack of drivers. Our transportation manager has been working diligently to fix the multitude of issues that have been brought forth. We do hear you and the issues. What is important to remember is that once the bus leaves the school, we are NOT provided with their ETA to the stops. So IF the bus hits traffic, has to re-route, has a sub driver that takes longer, we do NOT have this information at the school level. Understandably this is frustrating, and we will do our best to assist you by reaching out to the bus company. The school will do outreach to families, but ONLY when busses LEAVE the school LATER than a few minutes. We do not call when they are 5 minutes late leaving. We have included the transportation departments contact information in this correspondence as well for your direct connection.

Within this newsletter you will find:

  1. COVID Consent letter and links to sign up for Pooled testing, Symptomatic Testing, and Test and Stay. These tests are done IN SCHOOL. There is only ONE consent for permission. We are only allowed to test, if you have completed the form providing permission.
  2. 21st Century Afterschool Programming Sign Ups
  3. School Calendar with EARLY RELEASE schedule
  4. Transportation Contact Information
  5. Medical Reminders from the Nurse
  6. Important Dates such as: Open House and School Picture Day.
  7. VOLUNTEERS WANTED: for our PTO and School Site Council, we want to hear your voices! Sign up at Open House

We couldn't do it without you and our AMAZING staff! Thanks for your partnership in your child's education!

Mrs. Ginger Coleman, Principal

COVID-19 Family Letter and Consent for In School Testing REMINDER

The original slidedeck shared with families and posted to our website, discussed the numerous options for families regarding close contacts, and COVID exposures. One way to combat this, is to test in our Pooled testing. This happens every week and if there happens to be a close contact within the classroom, if we have permission, via the completed forms above, we would be able to allow those "close contacts" without symptoms to "Test and Stay" by conducting the Rapid test here at the building level. There have been a multitude of changes, and I am sure the vast amount of information is confusing- so please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions regarding this. We are happy to help.

The safety of all children is our first priority. It is critical that any changes to a student's dismissal routine be sent to the school office in writing, even if it is just for one day. Changes by parent phone call are for emergencies only and the office will require a return call to a number we have on file for the custodial parent to verify the change. Students will be dismissed ONLY to caregivers who are listed on the Student emergency Form.

Any students who have emergency medications (Epi-Pens, inhalers, etc.) or who will receive medication in school MUST have a medication order from the prescribing physician AND a completed consent form from the City Health Department. Forms and medication can be dropped off to the school nurse on the first day of school. The school nurse cannot administer ANY medications without a physician's order, including over-the-counter medications. Please make sure that the school nurse is provided refills in advance of any medication supply running out.

Please also be sure that the nurse has updated vaccination records. In addition, any absence related to a doctor appointment- please be sure to get a Dr. note, so that we may document it as an excused absence.
