This week's attendance rate...
Our LVMS campus goal is to reach 98%!!
This week's attendance rate = 95% (Oh NO......)
Attendance: Spring is the time of the year when absences start to pile up. Be sure you are aware of the consequences for your student missing too much school. Our campus goal is to reach 98%. If a student is at school, we receive funding for that student. If they are not in school, we do not receive funding.
Weird, but true, attendance fact: If your student is present for any part of the school day and leaves for a medical appointment, they won't get counted absent for that day as long as they bring a doctor's note. If they are absent for the entire day for a doctor's appointment, it will be counted as an absence.
If you need to talk to us about your child's attendance, including absences, doctor's notes, students needing to leave school early, please call our attendance clerk,monica_kaiser@lagovista.txed.net, 512-267-8300 #2503.
stay healthy this spring...
Germs live in noses and mouths. Avoid touching them without a tissue
Cough and sneeze into your elbow, not your hand.
Don’t share any drinks or food
Don’t eat lots of sweets (sodas, desserts, candy.) They put your immune system to sleep!
Wash your hands often… good washing takes about 15 seconds (hum the birthday song)
Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies to build a germ fighting immune system.
Get plenty of rest - our bodies heal themselves when we sleep

Tennis (Coach DuBose)
This past weekend April 2nd, we had our first all-day tennis tournament experience as the kids and I traveled to Georgetown to compete against 4 other surrounding schools. Since this is the first year for Lago Vista to have tennis at the middle school, some of our kids had to get used to the tempo of how a tennis tournaments is ran and how to be responsible for their own court time. The kids did a phenomenal job. Thankfully, the weather conditions were perfect for tennis. We had a combination of girls and boys singles and girls and boys doubles.
Some of our top highlights of the day were:
Josey Kannmacher and Emily Pieklik taking home the 2nd place medal for 7th grade girls’ doubles. I have to brag on these 2 because not only was it their first time to play doubles together, but this is their very first year to even play tennis. They did an excellent job and I am extremely proud of them.
We had a few groups that went on to play for the Consolation Championship, but fell short: Katelyn Coldicott (7th grade girls’ singles) Aiden Panter & Garrett Phariss (7th grade boys’ doubles) and Nathan Sussman & Joe Joslin (8th grade boys’ doubles)
The head coach at Georgetown complimented our athletes on how well they behaved and how he hopes we come back next year. This speaks volumes for our kids.
We have 2 tournaments that remain: Saturday, April 30th at Westwood and Saturday, May 7th is our District Tournament in Jarrell.
Thanks for all your continued support for our LVMS Tennis program!
