Bobcat Bash Cancelled
This year's Bobcat Bash will not be rescheduled due to continued weather challenges, the end of the year approaching so quickly, and other events already on the calendar such as end of year parties and Bell Field Day. Our PTA is already seeking new dates for next year's Bash at a time of year that does not experience as many weather changes. Thank you for your continued support and understanding!
A few notes:
*If your child earned a wristband for the Bash based on PTA chocolate sales, please save those! They will be honored next year.
*All Bobcats will continue to be invited to Bobcat Bash, including former Bobcats.
Show Integrity
Building character is important to us at Bell Elementary! We believe in our students and want them to have the opportunity to grow in their character as well as in their academics. This includes helping students learn about their strengths and how they contribute to their classroom and school with those strengths, building problem solving skills, and practicing skills such as kindness, conflict resolution, forgiveness, resilience, goal setting, leading by example, helpfulness, and more!
Our seventh core value is "Show Integrity". During the month of May we will learn about how being honest, being sincere, and holding true to our values/principles (even when no one is looking) shows ourselves and others that we have integrity.
This conversation will start on daily morning announcements with a quote about character and a daily challenge to staff and students given by Mrs. Shapiro. Please help us at home by sharing ways you show integrity, even in challenging situations!
A few quotes we will use to help spring conversation with students include:
- "A half truth is a whole lie." -Yiddish Proverb
- "The right to do something does not mean that doing it is right." -William Safire
- Be true to your work, your word, and your friend." -Henry David Thoreau
- "The time is always right to do what is right." -Martin Luther King, Jr.
- "Character is doing the right thing when nobody's looking." -J.C. Watts
- "When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad." -Abraham Lincoln
- "Every time I've done something that doesn't feel right, it's ended up not being right." -Mario Cuomo
- "No legacy is so rich as honesty." -William Shakespeare
- "Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either." -Albert Einstein
- "Real integrity is doing the right thing knowing that nobody's going to know if you did it or not." -Oprah Winfrey
- "Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it. Right is right, even if no one is doing it."
- "It's not only what you say, it's also how you say it."
- "Wisdom is knowing the right path to take. Integrity is taking it."
- "Live in such a way that you would not be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip." -Will Rogers
We will continue to focus on being 212 throughout the school year and how our core values feed into this.
"At 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, it boils. And with boiling water, comes steam. And with steam, you can power a train. Just one extra degree makes all the difference." -Sam Parker, 212 the extra degree
