UNIFORM ORDER DELAYS
Perm-A-Pleat have informed us that due to shipping delays in getting stock into Perth some online orders from parents will be affected.
These disruptions are due to the worldwide effect of covid19 lockdowns and downturn in operations in every area of industry. They apologise for this inconvenience which is beyond their control.
I have attached a letter below from the national sales manager to explain the reason for intermittent deliveries.
We will keep you updated when we receive further communication from Perm-A-Pleat.
In the meantime, children are asked to wear their sports uniform or any items of uniform they do have or as close to it as possible. If they do not have any uniforms at all then they can wear whatever they have that is suitable for school. We appreciate the need for flexibility at this time.
Teachers will not be monitoring Student’s Uniforms closely for the first few weeks until orders have been received by parents and things get back to normal.
Please note we now have a few remaining items for sale in the Office and we accept card only.
School Bucket Hats - $16.50
White Sports Socks - $8.30
Grey Socks - $8.50
Library Bags - $18.50
Art Smocks - $20.00
Swimming Caps - $5
PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
Please save the date for the Parent Information Night – Tuesday February 9th, 6-6.30, repeated 6.30-7.00pm. With the exception of Year Four, where the presentations for both classes will be in the staff room, each teacher will conduct their own presentation, in their classroom. This has changed in order to accommodate social distancing requirements, as is the request that only one parent/guardian attends the session.
Parent and guardian feedback about these meetings has been strongly in support of this opportunity to meet their child’s teacher and learn about what life is like in that class.
OPENING MASS
CLASSROOM AND BUILDING UPDATES
Plenty of painting and maintenance work has been done over the break, and it will continue for another couple of weeks. Building-wise, I would love to tell you that we are well on the way to having buildings on the way up – but I can’t. Suffice it to say that despite the best efforts of us at Holy Rosary School you are not going to see much. Deeper holes for the footings have been dug, and it is our understanding that footings will be poured soon. We had a building meeting last week, and will continue them with builder and architect on a fortnightly basis. As things happen, we will be delighted to share the news with you. We are assured however that it will be complete and move-in ready by the end of term two. Meantime our arrangements to accommodate our children during the build will continue in their current form.
Grass is not at the standard we would expect at this time. Again a casualty of construction but we continue to work assiduously to resurrect it.
Sand pits are being topped up with lovely fresh white sand very soon.
ACCESS AND PARKING
The existing arrangements will continue: Remember to sign in at the Administration Office located in the Science Room. The closest entrance is from Angelico Street.
There will be two main entrances to the school:
Angelico Street: stairs only to the gates near Pre-Kindy.
Hall carpark: ramp access for prams and wheelchairs.
Williamstown Road: access to upper primary classrooms at drop-off and pickup times only: 8.30am - 9am and 3pm - 3.20pm. If arriving after 8:45am you need to sign in at the Admin Office.
Children arriving between 8.15am and 8.30am for supervision in the undercover area must enter via either of these main entrances.
With the temporary closure of the staff car park on Williamstown Road, please consider parking at Hale hockey which has loads of bays.
SPECIALIST TIMETABLE AND UNIFORM
Summer uniform is worn by children in Years 1-6 on the first day of school. There have been a couple of supply issues and information from Perm-a-Pleat our supplier is also attached. In terms of monitoring the uniform, for the first two weeks we will be looking the other way until full supplies are available to you. Please find the timetable for your child’s class below, so that you can be prepared for sports uniform and library bag days.
ENTRY TO CLASSROOMS
With the exception of Pre Kindy which is enjoying a staggered start with parents permitted to enter the class, our expectation of all other grades is for children to be dropped off at drive through/walking in to school (Years 1-6), and farewelled at the class door (Kindy to Year 6). Pre Primary to Year 6 classes open daily at 8.30, Pre Kindy and Kindy at 9.
P&F NEWS
Our P&F focus, as evidenced in the P&F pillars, focuses on supporting our school in its work, empowering parents and building community - including our business community. They are getting an early start, with a Family Fun Night on Saturday 20th February and the Dads and Kids Camp Out, overnight March 13. More news to follow. Great events which, if life proceeds the way it is at the moment, will continue and become ever more popular. We are grateful to our P&F for being so front foot in terms of being organised in the best interests of our community.
