Database Highlight - Learn360
We are trialing the use of Learn360 this year, paid for through the EANS grant. Learn360 is a resource for copyright free video content from the likes of Sesame Street to HBO, interactives & games, virtual field trips, etc. Please take some time to check it out this year and see if you like it. The link below is housed in the sidebar of the Library Resource Board on the SHA portal. More information is available below in the Streaming Video section of newsletter.

SHA Digital Library is open 24 hours!
Power Library Databases. The Power Library is located on the Chrome Waffle. If you access the Gold Lightning Bolt Power Library icon from Chrome there is no login or password needed!
Interlibrary Loan Books- Search the Pennsylvania State catalog for books beyond those found in the SHA Libraries. Email the information to: Catherine.scholl@SHAbrynmawr.org and you will be notified when the book is at school.
*Login and password are the same numbers as your ID Number or lunch number found on the SHA portal in your profile.
SORA, an Overdrive product, is another eBook platform that is located on Google Waffle. It easily allows you to borrow and reserve books geared for students K-12.
SHA Library LibGuides - The LibGuides are guides with links to resources for Lower, Middle, and Upper School students and teachers. Please let the librarian know if you want to add a tab for a project.
Free Library of Philadelphia Databases - Students 13+ years and adults can apply online for a Free Library of Philadelphia Card and have instant access to several databases and ebooks. The Gale databases in particular are useful for student research. Please use the last 4 digits of your cell phone as a password.
How to get a Free Library Card
Teachers and students can schedule the librarian to show Power Library databases, Noodletools, and create subject LibGuides. Students are encouraged to email the librarian with any questions or requests.

BrainPop
BrainPop is a learning video platform and more! It consists of short animated movies for students in grades K–8, together with quizzes and related materials, covering the subjects of science, social studies, English, math, engineering and technology, health, arts and music. SHA is subscribing to BrainPop (3-8), BrainPop Jr (K-3), BrainPop Francais and BrainPop Espanol.
You can set up an account by going to BrainPop and then tapping the log in button on the right and follow the instructions provided. Our Educator Code is MQFNZXO3 If you need any help please email Catherine.Scholl@shabrynmawr.org

"Learn360 is a streaming multimedia resource for K–12 schools. Teachers, students, and parents can access media resources on any Internet-enabled device, anytime, anywhere, and engaging content that includes a wealth of videos, interactives, printables, audio content, and maps and flags. The entire site and all pages can be filtered by grade level (all grades, elementary, or middle/high) for targeted browsing. Plus, educators will love Learn360’s Topic Centers, which bring together in one location a diverse selection of multimedia assets revolving around a curricular subject, allowing teachers to save time looking for appropriate materials and create dynamic lessons that will captivate their students."

Free Library of Philadelphia Digital Media
A Free Library of Philadelphia library card will grant you access to a large assortment of digital media for all ages including videos, music, magazines, newspapers, and ebooks.

PDE Act 48 Hours and SHA Provider Status Update
The Sacred Heart Academy PD Act 48 Plan has been updated this fall. The Professional Development Committee are required every three years to submit to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.an Act 48 Professional Development Plan in order to keep their Act 48 Provider status. Thank you to everyone, including Donna, Eileen, Sharon, Symone, and Blair, who all helped write and submit the new plan! Here is a link to part of our 2023-2026 submission.
FREE Act 48 PD Opportunities
The SAS PD Center is the Pennsylvania Department of Education's repository of professional development courses, including Act 48, Act 126 and Act 55 courses. Courses in this system are generally self-paced and all provide Act 48 or Act 45 hours. With your SAS account and PPID you can register and take courses free of charge. You simply create an account and then search for PD that fits your interest and needs. Most courses offer between 5 -10 Act 48 credits that are automatically recorded for you!
