PHS Parent Update
Volume 2, Number 1 (September 2, 2014)
Back To School Night this Thursday, Sept 4th
Don't forget our Back to School Night coming up this Thursday evening, September 4th. Parents, teachers and administration will meet in the quad at 5:30 pm. Booster and support groups will be on hand to share information about services provided to our students. This year, a food truck, Delicias Elenita, will offer dinner for guests with a 20% donation to the school for all food sold. There will be delicious snacks and desserts as well.
At 6:30 pm, there will be an opening session with principal David Stirrat. Then parents will tour their student's classrooms, meet teachers and learn about the academic programs at Petaluma High School. Schedules for students to provide to parents will be distributed on Wednesday for distribution during period 3.
See you there!

Athletics Kicks Off...
- Well done, Girl's Tennis! Petaluma came away with a 4 matches to 3 win over Maria Carillo in Santa Rosa last Wednesday. The tight contest was highlighted by Nicoline Pederson's gutsy play in the number two singles. She outlasted her opponent in a thrilling three-setter. Then on Friday, the Trojans handled Casa Grande 6 matches to 1, sweeping the singles and dropping one close doubles match. Strong start!!
- Behind Amy Ferrick's goal, PHS girl's soccer opened up the season by downing Santa Rosa last Monday evening. NIce start for Coach Daly and the girls...Tuesday night, we host the Gauchos at Ellison Field...
- Boy's Soccer lost a tough one versus the visiting Gauchos. A penalty mid way through the second half was the difference in a 2-1 loss. Plenty of young talent on the field for Coach Lamansky augers for a strong season...
- Varsity Football travelled up to our long-time rival Santa Rosa High in quest of The Club. After a strong first half effort, our Trojans hung on to win with a heroic last stand as the Panthers went for two. Coming away with a 13-12 win, the Trojans look ahead to a strong Vintage High team this Friday. Coach Krist and the PHS Football community are working on a gift of support for the Napa area community in the wake of the shaker last week. Come on over to Napa if you can to support the team! JV Football battled but came up just short 14-7; Freshmen Football were bested by San Marin 28-7.
- Don't forget to check the PHS website for the upcoming athletics schedule. Go to http://phsathletics.wix.com/trojans . You can also download our Athletics app to your mobile device for access on the go.

AERIES Parent Portal Updates
One side effect of online re-registration has been a sharp reduction in the number of Associated Student Body (ASB) membership cards. Our ASB depends on student membership so that ASB can provide discounts on dances and plays, class T-shirts, guest speakers (like motivational speaker Scott Backovich next week), free entrance to all school athletic events, and many more benefits. Please watch your mail for a letter from ASB outlining this information and encouraging participation.
Thanks for supporting our student body!
