Greatest Contribution to Astronomy - Hawking Radiation
Hawking radiation is formed when two sub atomic particles are created from nothing, right against a black hole. Usually these particles instantly collide into each other, destroying one another as fast as they were created. But when this occurs next to a black hole, one of these particles is sucked into the black hole while the other continues to exist outside the black hole. This is than the radiation that you see outside a black hole, or now known as Hawking radiation.
