BINGO, TOMORROW!!!!!
Mock Trial
The case was the State of Minnesota vs Jack Peifer. In this case, Jack Peifer was accused of kidnapping William Hamm Jr. This is a fun and exciting case because it really happened in 1933 just after Prohibition ended. It was one of the first cases in US history that used fingerprint technology in a court case. The kidnapping took place in St. Paul just outside the Hamm Brewing Company. Since it wasn't profitable for gangsters to sell alcohol any longer because it was now legal to do so, they turned to kidnapping wealthy individuals and holding them for ransom. Mr. Hamm was held ransom for $100,000, during a time when the average American's annual income was $1000.
In our case, some of the facts have been altered so that Mr. Peifer could be innocent or guilty but in real life, he was found guilty of kidnapping.
All 4 classes found the defendant, Jack Peifer, Innocent of Kidnapping!

General Middle School Information
Middle School Entrance: Student Drop-off and Pick-up
- Middle school families will be expected to consistently use the Quarry Avenue entrance/exit on all student days to drop off and pick up students. Families should also use the new entrance during any other times that they are visiting the building during school hours or to attend after-school events.
Middle School Office Access
- During the school day, the Middle School office door is locked to maintain security. If you are dropping something off that your student has forgotten, place it on the table in the entryway and put their name on it. They may retrieve it when convenient.
Flex Learning Day Plan For Students
- If we should experience inclement weather our district will implement a flex learning day in lieu of canceling school. Please review the middle school Flex Learning Day Plan For Students. A routine flex learning day begins at 8:10 a.m. with all students logging into a google meet with their advisory teacher for attendance.
- If a 2-hour late start transitions to a flexible learning day, then students will be expected to log into a google meet with their advisory teacher at 10:10 am for attendance.
Infinite Campus, Parent Portal
- Please continue to monitor your student’s academic progress through the Campus Portal and don’t hesitate to reach out to our staff for support if need be.
Attendance
- All absences from school, including late drop-off/early pick-up, will need to be reported to our attendance secretary, Miranda Winker, at msattendance@wm.k12.mn.us or (952) 955-0421. If you are planning an upcoming absence/vacation, please complete this form and return it to the MS office.

Dismissal
- When middle school students are dismissed from school at 2:50 p.m. they are expected to go home unless they are attending a supervised afterschool program. Students are not allowed to hang out on the MS/HS campus for any reason. This includes waiting around until a game or activity begins later in the day.
- If you are interested in receiving free weekly food bags, please complete the following enrollment form. If you have questions regarding the program, please contact Abbey Schuette, school social worker, at 952-955-0412 or find helpful information here.
Learning Lab
- Learning lab is a free, after-school program that gives additional basic skills support for middle school students. Families can sign up any time during the school year. For more information and a sign-up sheet, please use this link: Learning Lab
Become a Paraprofessional
- The middle school has an opening for a paraprofessional. This is an instructional support role that would include assisting teachers in classrooms. If you are interested in learning more about this please contact Nick Guertin at 952.955.0405 or nguertin@wm.k12.mm.us.
Volunteer Interest
- If you are interested in volunteering at WMMS please complete this Volunteer Interest Survey. This will allow us to learn more about what areas you are interested in being considered for. The survey also includes a link to a required background check that must be completed annually. We appreciate your interest in supporting our school and students.
Lost and Found
- There is a table with lost and found items added daily. Students are reminded each day, in announcements, to look through the pile. Families are welcome to look through this as well. Unclaimed items will be donated monthly.
