Roo Tennis Update
Mixed doubles consisted of Morgan Peterson and Hailey Toten, winning 6-1, 6-0. Girls doubles kept the winning streak up: Sandi Brown and McKenna Buchfink 6-2, 6-1, Hailey Maloy and Shelbi Ruthesell 6-3, 6-2, and Marissa Bosco and Katie Markwardt 6-0, 6-0.
With the Roos being up already 6-0 against the Peaster Greyhounds, the Roos didn’t stop there. With Weatherford overall winning 6-0, 10 of the Weatherford players won their singles matches! Wins were consisting of freshman Marissa Bosco (6-0, 6-0), as well as sophomores Austin Markwardt (6-4, 6-0), Shelbi Ruthesell (6-0,6-2), and Perla Suarez (8-1). Juniors were Aaron Hairston (6-3, 7-5), Isaac Duvall (8-0), Devon Hairston (8-1), and Katie Markwardt (6-1, 6-4). Lastly, the seniors that won their singles matches consisted of Aaron Quy (6-1, 6-0), Hailey Maloy (8-5), and McKenna Buchfink (6-1, 6-1).
The Roos definitely played great last week. Ending the night 16-3 overall, this puts the Roos season at 7-3. With the Roos losing to a tough Richland team this past week, this is definitely what the Roos needed to regain their confidence. The next match on the 14th, where the Roos face off against San Angelo Central and Abilene High at Abilene High School.
Good luck, Roos, with your continued success!
