Some things we are working on:
1. Current 2020-2021 openings are now posted on School Spring - interviews will begin soon when the postings close,
2. The ILT is developing a TAP update and communication for the 2/12 Staff Early Release
3. Planning 8th grade visits to LHS 2/4, 2/5, 2/6
4. Planning for the next school year - enrollment
5. Instructional rounds 2/6 - more to info to come
We know this is a very busy time of year for you with the closing of one semester and starting of a second semester, please let your department chair and/or dean know if there is anything we can do to support you. Thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of all of our students!

December and January Poetry Events!
In December, over 700 of our students across grade levels and programs worked with Anthony Febo, LHS '05, during a series of double-period writing workshops. Febo shared his poetry, led students through writing exercises and provided a chance for students to share their work. This past week, Febo returned to facilitate a student-staff writing event during which students and staff learned and wrote together. Our students had a lot to say -- and said it beautifully. These enrichment events are part of a larger plan to increase positive engagement and meaningful connections within our community.

What the Tech!
Tech Tip from Malinda:
“Oh no! I need help but my help desk account is giving me the message ‘Your session has expired, please login again.’ I typed in my username and password again but the message keeps returning.”
Here is what’s happening; your Chrome web browser has timed out. For security reasons, most programs that require a password will want you to re-authenticate after a period of time has passed. It is actually your Chrome web browser that is preventing you from logging into help desk. To fix the issue, completely quit your Chrome web browser. On a Mac, this DOES NOT mean to click on the red ‘x’ in the upper left of the window. All this does is close the browser window. The Chrome application is still running. To completely quit Chrome, click on the word Chrome in the Chrome menu bar located at the top left of the screen (you might have to click the Chrome icon in your doc at the bottom of the screen to get the Chrome menu bar to appear at the top). You will now see the option to “quit Chrome.” Click on it and Chrome will quit. Relaunch Chrome and try logging into your help desk again. If you got in; great! This is unlikely but, if you’re still getting the SAME message, there is a setting in your Chrome web browser that needs to be changed (find Malinda for help). If you see a new message, “your account has been locked, contact an administrator,” this means you tried logging into help desk too many times before you quit Chrome. Email MPires and I will reactivate your help desk account.
Being denied access to YouTube involves a similar situation, but in this case it is not the chrome web browser that has timed out. Instead, the network firewall connection to your computer has timed out. To fix issues with YouTube, you must re-authenticate with the school network. To do this, log off your computer and log back in.
Lastly, to keep your computer working at optimal speeds you should restart your computer often. I recommend restarting your computer at least once a week.
Need help with something else? Enter a help desk request for Technology Training/ITS or email helpdesk@lowell.k12.ma.us and I will set up a tutoring session with you.
Wishing your week goes smoothly and the semester closes on a high note!
