Upcoming Events:

-Mom's Night Out: Sunday, September 25th at 2:00 at Anderson's Winery. Throughout the year we plan to have get togethers to mingle and get to know one another. This is a great casual way to meet new moms =) Come relax and join the fun!

-READ-A-THON: September 26-October 7. Watch for the packets coming home in your students backpacks. This is our biggest fundraiser for the year, helping our school in many ways! Big prizes will be awarded to students for top readers and top donations!

- Book Fair: Our first Scholastic Book Fair of the year will be held October 12-20. Your students classes will be able to shop during their signed up day. We will also have shopping for parents during parent teacher conferences. If you would like to volunteer during the book fair, a sign-up genius will be sent out to those of you on the PTO email list the first week of October. If you are not on the email list and would like to be, please send a message to the email above.

-Fall Fest: It's back! Mark your calendars, our fall fest is scheduled for October 27th from 6-8, given we have a committee of members to help with this very large task. Again, please email if you would like to help! We will need lots of volunteers! Food will be served! Stay tuned for more on fall fest.

-Art Appreciation: Keep an eye out for an email from Nicole McGee to help with art appreciation if you're interested. It is a great way to get into your students classroom and be involved. We already have premade lessons, so you don't have to reinvent the wheel. However, if you have the creativity and would like to make a new lesson that is totally fine too! If this sounds like something you would like to do, send an email to the address above so you can be added to the list.

-Yearbook: We are in need of a few people to take the lead or help with the yearbook this year. If you are interested please send an email to let us know. The program is pretty basic to input the pictures. We will also need quite a few people to go around and take pictures of students in action to add to the pages of the yearbook. It's an ongoing project throughout the year.

-Spiritwear- Orders are due by September 14th. Use this LINK to place your order!

-Apples for Students: Any shopping you do at Strack and Van Til, you can turn your receipts into the school (can send them with your child) and the school will get a percentage back.

-Amazon Smile: We all do loads of Amazon shopping, so sign up for an Amazon Smile account and use Cooks Corners and we will get a kickback from Amazon. It is all of the same products! An easy way to help our school!

Who we've helped...

PTO has a budget and throughout the year our funds are spread across many many different areas of the school. The funds help the teachers and the students, as well as the school as a whole. Here are some of our helpful funds since school started this year:

-Kindergarten book bins

-Ice cream truck for Back to School Night

-Spiritwear for the staff

-Special lunch for the teachers and stocking the lounge with food and drinks

-Teacher Stipends

-Sensory mats and wall stickers for the sensory spa

-5th grade field trip

-3rd grade field trip

-Landscaping maintanence

-Insurance and tax filing

Phew! This is a lot of information! We thank each and every one of you, as we could never do this without you! Thank you for your support as we continue to support our children and our amazing school throughout the year! We are Valpo!

Dismissal Procedures- Please Follow Them!

All cars entering the car dismissal line should enter from the BULLSEYE LAKE ROAD entrance only. It is important that you only TURN RIGHT into the drive. Once you have entered the drive, proceed to take your place in one of the double lines that will form down the driveway. This year we will continue the double line to the car loading zone. Your child will be sent to your car once it is safe to do so. Please do not get out of your car to help your child. We want to keep everyone safe at all times! Once your child is in the car you will proceed to Campbell Street where you will exit TURNING RIGHT only onto Campbell Street.

Our carline is very long. We ask that you not block any driveways on the surrounding streets and yield to the traffic on Bullseye Lake Rd. We understand that only turning right into the driveway is an inconvenience for some, however if we don’t adhere to this it causes a dangerous situation on Bullseye Lake Rd or Campbell street. The carline lasts about 15 minutes, so feel free to arrive any time before 3:30pm.
