Here We Go!
As per the order of Governor Burgum, Central Cass Pubic School students will not return to the building until further notice, and the building will be closed to the public. In an effort to continue quality education, Central Cass has made the decision to begin online learning in grades Pre K - 12 on Monday, March 23, 2020.
Here’s what everyone needs to know as we begin our new online journey!

SCHOOL SPECIFIC INFORMATION
PRE K - 5
Our teachers know and understand that an online learning environment for PK-5 is unique and more challenging than for our older students. We know students are more reliant on an adult to help facilitate their learning, and the platform is not as independent. While students should be successful in navigating the content, the technology may be the trickiest aspect for most as some of these platforms have not been used by students in this manner. We have fantastic teachers that are aware of these concerns and will help you navigate through this new and trying time. They will continue to be working to make sure this set up and the environment is streamlined. Just as the COVID-19 situation is fluid, we know that this method will continue to be fluid as we continue to learn what is best for our students.
** Give teachers, students and yourself grace and flexibility as we all navigate this current situation.**
Teacher Expectations
Teachers will be working online preparing and planning from 8:00 am-4:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Each teacher has devoted a 3-hour time frame to be able to interact with students in real-time. (10:00 am- 1:00 pm) Individual teachers will be communicating with you if this time is different for them. During this time, teachers will be available via SeeSaw and email to answer questions.
Teachers will be sending out information Monday, March 23rd, that may include daily or a weekly set of activities.
SeeSaw will be the main method of communication and push out for instruction. Many teachers will be sending a student SeeSaw code that they can access the activities for teachers to track learning. Other grade levels will have newsletters connected to SeeSaw that further information will be shared on.
Teachers who teach an alternative core curriculum in reading and/or math will be providing learning materials to those students.
Our teachers are rock stars!
Student Expectations
Students are asked to connect daily through activities your teacher has planned.
Activities should not take more than an hour total each day.
Completion and Engagement = Attendance Teachers will be tracking attendance by hearing from you and by students turning in expected assignments.
Parent Expectations
Be patient. We are ALL navigating a new school environment.
This set-up is not meant to recreate a full school day, but meant to continue some learning in an alternative method.
Find a space in your home where learning can take place.
Find a time each day that you, a caregiver, an older sibling can help facilitate this learning with your PK-5 student.
Make sure SeeSaw is set up and working on the device(s) your student will be using.
Share the posts, videos, and messages sent from your students' teacher.
Initial instruction in the next week will be review and information students have already learned. If we continue this platform long term, teachers will start moving to new skills that they will be teaching through this flipped learning environment.
Communication is key- if something isn’t working email your teacher, request a phone call, or send them a message on SeeSaw!
GRADES 6 - 8
Students in grades 6 – 8 will use Edmodo as their daily connection point. Instructions for each day will be posted in their respective Edmodo classes. To avoid content overload as students and teachers learn to navigate a fully online classroom, teachers will be posting new content every other day. A more detailed schedule will be posted for students soon.
** Please remember to give all teachers, students and parents grace and flexibility as we navigate this current situation together.**
Teacher Expectations
Teachers will be planning and preparing their online classroom from 8:00 AM -4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Each teacher has devoted a 3-hour time frame to be available to interact with your child(ren) in real-time (10:00 am-1:00 pm). During this time, teachers will be available in Edmodo and via email to answer questions and check in on students.
Grades will be posted weekly in PowerSchool.
Student Expectations
Use technology appropriately. Your search history is logged. The websites you visit are logged. Inappropriate language is logged. Concerns of your use of the school-issued device will be tracked, parent contact will be made, and continued violations will have consequences.
Check Edmodo daily.
Check your K12 email daily.

Remember your passwords! Know how to reset them if you forget. This is a life skill. :)
Complete your assignments. Completion and Engagement = Attendance Teachers will be tracking your attendance by hearing from you and by you turning in expected assignments. Just like regular school – online school is NOT optional.
Communication is key- if something isn’t working email your teachers, request a phone call, or send them a message on Edmodo!
Parent Expectations
Be patient. We are ALL navigating a new school environment. We do not expect you to be full-time teachers. We do not expect students to be "schooling" all day online. In fact, if they are online all day, chances are it isn't all homework or class. :)
We want learning to continue, and we will be trying to keep up with our school structure in the online format. While we have been blessed to have technology as a tool in our classroom, it has now become the means of delivery. Again, we thank you for your patience as we further develop our online teaching skillset.
Don’t assume – ASK! Have your child show you their learning platform, their assignments, and have them explain what is expected of them for their different classes. This will help you understand their successes, their frustrations, and help you know they are keeping up with the pace and the content of the classes
Monitor your child’s technology. Although we are still monitoring our security filter, we are counting on parents to set parameters for student’s technology use. It is OK to have students turn in their device at night, to only work on schoolwork at a set time, and to have them work in common areas to ensure they are being smart digital citizens.
GRADES 9-12
How To Prepare for Online Learning
1) Prepare a learning workspace in your home that you can focus on learning and have all of your supplies near. This includes your textbooks, school supplies, and computer.
2) Log into Office 365. This is your K12 email. You will be utilizing this platform for email, OneDrive, and TEAMS – maybe more.
3) Log into Edmodo and ensure you have access to your classes? If not email your teacher and ask for the code.
4) Make sure you are a part of your grade level’s news group as this is where announcements will be posted.
Freshman Group Code: ys3qjv
Sophomore Group Code: ehsig5
Junior Group Code: dsuyaq
Senior Group Code: 9g82ij
5) Wait to hear from your teachers – they will be connecting by Monday morning through Edmodo!
