SENIORS and SENIOR PARENTS PLEASE READ!!!!!!!
Dear MHS Class of 2020 and Parents,
I want to begin by thanking each of you for your incredible patience during this time. While there are still questions to be answered, last night’s School Board meeting did provide some answers to items that affect each of you, as a member of the Senior class. The following decisions were approved:
The School Board waived the community service requirement for graduation for this year’s seniors only. Please mark this as an item you no longer need to graduate this year.
The School Board voted that the final calculation of class rank will be determined with Semester 1 grades for this year’s Senior class.
In addition, communication will go out to our Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and Honor Graduates in the coming days.
Additionally, we are working closely with Jostens to facilitate the safe delivery of your cap, gown and graduation announcement orders. We will communicate this process as soon as the logistics are finalized.
Due to the extension of at-home learning, we have postponed Prom to Friday, May 22. The location and time have not changed. We are excited our venue could change the date so we can continue to plan for this important and memorable event. This new date is pending that school has resumed as normal.
As of today, our graduation ceremony is still scheduled for Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 8:15 p.m. at the MISD Stadium. If the closure of our school buildings continues to be extended, then our tentative contingency plan for the MHS 2020 graduation ceremony is slated to be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the Mansfield Center for the Performing Arts.
We recognize there are many other activities and events you may have questions about. Please know it is our goal to preserve as many senior and school activities as possible and we will communicate any additional changes as those decisions are made. Thank you again for your patience, understanding and amazing attitude through this unique time.
