Notes from the Administration

Thank you for sending us such amazing students to work with each and every day! Our carnival last week reminded us of the community that we are together. It was such a joy to watch our students and families laughing, running, and playing together.

A personal favorite is the balloon splash!

As we wind down the year, we will sending attendance letters home this week for students with unlawful absences. Please send a note in to ensure that we have the proper documentation required by the state of Maryland for absences. Thank you for your support.

We hope to see you this Friday May 24th for our Volunteer Breakfast from 8:00-10:00 am.

PTA Officers Needed for next school year

PTA Board 2019 Officer Positions Open

Last call for anyone interested in serving on the 2019-2010 PTA Executive Board. If you appreciate all the activities sponsored by the PTA and want to see them continued, please consider taking a role on the PTA Executive Board. Whittier has a strong and active PTA and the executive board plans many activities that enrich the lives of our children and teachers during the school year.

If you are interested in running for a position, please contact Amanda Cecil immediately (acecil36@gmail.com; 301-639-8451). You will need to provide a brief bio about yourself and let us know the position you are running for.

PTA has been very active this year and each incoming executive board sets the standard with regards to pace and activities, so as a group you decide how many activities you take on. The current board will provide assistance and guidance over the summer as each person transitions into the new roles.

The PTA general membership meeting on May 20th, 6:30pm at Whittier will be the evening where each PTA member will vote on the incoming board officers. Please come prepared to vote for the officers listed as well as catch up on brief updates from activities for the past school year. The PTA meeting is a great way to meet other parents just like you, engage with teachers, and to listen to all of the achievements of the school year. We highly recommend attending the PTA meeting just to see how much the PTA does during the school year.

Thank you from the PTA Nominating Committee 2019
