While reading and discussing the book, Culturally Responsive Teaching and The Brain: Promoting Authentic Engagement and Rigor Among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students by Zaretta Hammond, teachers will share, discuss, help, and problem solve how to close the achievement gap by looking at culturally responsive pedagogy. Participants must purchase their own copy of the book, Culturally Responsive Teaching & The Brain (Promoting Authentic Engagement and Rigor Among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students) by Zaretta Hammond.

Teaching Advanced Literacy Skills
The book study, Teaching Advanced Literacy Skills: A Guide for Leaders in Linguistically Diverse Schools by Nonie K. Lesaux, guides school leaders to design and implement advanced literacy instruction through four key shifts: strengthening the instructional core, giving data a central role, using a shared curriculum, and providing supportive and tailored professional development. Reproducible forms and templates facilitate planning and implementation of schoolwide initiatives are provided. Participants must purchase their own copy of the book.
