Principal's Message Mar 28- April 1
Dear Peabody and Watkins community,
Thank you to all of the folks that came out to our equity session last night. I'm so proud of our caregiver facilitators who did an excellent job creating space for others to share, be vulnerable and process incidents of harm that they've experienced. We ended the night on a hopeful note - hope in our ability to work together, to create spaces for conversation, and ultimately build and rebuild relationships.
Our Community Wide Equity Audit has always had two purposes: 1) to build community and align on a shared vision of equity and 2) to develop concrete recommendations for change to bring about a more inclusive experience for community members. As this school year and equity work has developed, it's become clear that what's needed is an emphasis on the first objective. Participants in future meetings can always expect to talk about their experiences in service of building community. We sought feedback from participants last night will be enthusiastically incorporating their wisdom in our future sessions. New participants are always welcome! Stay tuned for more info on our next session.
There was even a call to action that I want to amplify to all in our community: Meet someone new! Caregivers, introduce yourself to someone new - a staff member or another caregiver. Share something about yourself, about your child, and just try to connect. Will you answer the call?
